I love to rope, and I love to ride hard and fast. I love the rodeo events I am in and I love learning how to continue to improve myself.

However, lately, in practice and in competition, I have gotten so focused on being my best. So focused in fact, that, roping and riding has become my job, my need to get done. It has lost its fun.

I want to be good. I want to be the best I can be. And I am really hard on myself because of that. So hard on myself that I shake my head when my loop hits the dirt, get frustrated with myself when I top knot the calf for the 6th time in the row. If I don't have good practice, I spend an hour at the dummy, if not longer. I work on every drill I know until my arm is tired, and then rope some more.

Some of the things I'm doing are actually really good for me. They make me stronger. But negative self talk isn't. I've always struggled with that. I have a friend, she was right there with the rest of them this last weekend. A little faster and she would have made short go. Instead of seeing her clean, faster, smooth run, she saw the seconds. "Well if I was just faster" or " if I had roped quicker" She didn't see the amazing improvement she has made. She talked bad about herself, got super discouraged, and was in a bit of a slump.

I think, that grace is important. Not just for the people around us, but for us too. Especially when we are trying to work so hard at something. We forget to offer ourselves some slack because of how badly we want what we're trying to accomplish.

So I'm offering a reminder... To me... But also to the ones who are working their butts off, putting in the late nights, the extra hours, the longer days... Everything will click. Eventually... For now, take the small wins, and focus on your improvement, as you grow closer to your goal. Offer yourself some grace, and as hard as it is, try to be patient. Trust in God. He's got a plan and it's coming together. You are enough.

Picked up my first ranch rodeo today! The only other time I've picked up is helping buck some stock, so this was an awesome opportunity and super exciting moment for me tonight! It was so much fun! by @rlsexson

NAYI was an absolutely fantastic week!! I met some of the coolest people and strengthened some friendships as well as built new ones!! I was in the Thomas Jefferson group (GO TJ!) This group was focused on the social media side, and learning how to incorporate agriculture into your content through videography and photography and being able to share to the world! I am hoping to take the information I learned and start building on what I have as well!! The agriculture panels were very informative and gave a lot for me to think about and take with me through life!
Definitely an awesome week!! #TJstickstogether#nayi by @rlsexson

Date that man.
Date the man who has genuine intentions with you and never leaves you guessing where you stand in his life.
Date the man who stops the car on a backroad on a cool summer night and dances with you in front of the headlights to your favorite country song.
Date the man who looks at you from across the room while you're reading a book and drinking some wine and thinks to himself "how blessed he truly is to have someone like you in his life."
Date a man who will guard your heart and destroy anything meant to harm you with loyalty running so deep in his veins that he gets physically ill at the thought of betrayal.
Date the man who gently runs his fingers through your hair and tells you how much he appreciates you and everything you do ... never goes unnoticed.
Date a man who traces your facial features and the valleys and crevices of your body with his fingertips so he can remember every detail about you when he misses you.
Date the man who will take time out of his day to write you a handwritten letter about how much you have changed his life since the first day he had laid his eyes upon you and how blessed he is to have someone so exquisitely beautiful come into his life so calmy and unexpectedly.
Take my advice and date the man who touches your heart in ways you never thought were imaginable.
~ Cody Bret
I would like to add to this list.
Date the man who respects your parents, their wishes, boundaries, and rules.
Date the man who understands that family time is important to you.
Date the man who stops to pick flowers off the side of the road because he thought of you.
Date the man who wants to understand you, who will listen to your thoughts even in your crazy talk.
Date the man who understands you can't talk 24/7. Date the man that understands every weekend he might not get to see you.
Date the man that wants to see you succeed in what you do, your goals, dreams, and aspirations.
Date the man who respects your person while also pushing you to succeed and become your best.
Date the man willing to change his bad habits, work to make himself a better person.
Date that man who silently, but proudly shows his love for you through his actions. by @rlsexson
