CONGRATULATIONS TO RMIT ARCHITECTURE ALUMNA LEONA DUSANOVIC PRESENTING HER RESIDENCY RESEARCH FOR THE 25/26 GOTTFRIED BÖHM SCHOLARSHIP! . Leona Dusanovic, Architect, graduate of RMIT Architecture, and second recipient of the Gottfried Böhm Scholarship recently presented her project, "Future Chorweiler” at the Cologne Town Hall. The Gottfried Böhm Scholarship supports architects and urban planners who have a particular interest in the intersection of architecture and urban design, through a one-year residency-scholarship in Cologne - Germany. For more information check out the Gottfried Böhm Scholarship links below. . Leona’s research begins by comparing Rudolf Schwarz’s original 1950s vision for a satellite city on the outskirts of Cologne with the district’s present-day conditions. The project explores themes of community models, deindustrialisation, urban greening, rural landscapes and urban renewal, culminating in design proposals for two neighbourhood centres. Through these proposals, Leona highlights Chorweiler’s distinctive qualities and seeks to position the city’s most peripheral district on equal footing with Cologne’s eight other districts. . . The scholarship is granted to postgraduates, established by Cologne’s Mayor Henriette Recker in celebration of Gottfried Böhm's 100th birthday. The late Gottfried Böhm's was a German Architect acclaimed for his expressionist forms and awarded a Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1986. Böhm worked on the reconstruction of Cologne under the direction of Rudolph Schwarz. Leona was selected from 104 applicants across 45 countries. . Read more via LinkedIn: https://bit.ly/4yrcuE0 . RMIT MASTER OF ARCHITECTURE HONG KONG TRAVELLING DESIGN STUDIO – CIRCULAR TECTONICS KICKOFF! . RMIT Master of Architecture students have arrived in Hong Kong for Circular Tectonics, a nine-day intensive RMIT–CUHK collaborative workshop hosted by the School of Architecture at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). . The studio began with a warm welcome from Associate Professor Peter W. Ferretto, Director of CUHK Architecture, who introduced the Lee Shau Kee Architecture Building and its design studios and facilities. . CUHK Architecture Assistant Professor Shuaizhong Wang led students on a guided tour of the CUHK campus, visiting the Chinese Garden, the Pavilion of Harmony, and several of the university’s most recognised spaces. The tour provided students with an introduction to CUHK’s distinctive landscape, architecture, and cultural context. . Over the next nine days, the studio will be based at the CUHK Architecture Building, where RMIT and CUHK students will work together through an intensive programme of design, making, fabrication, and cultural exchange. The workshop also includes visits to local architectural practices and schools, creating opportunities to engage with Hong Kong’s architectural culture while exploring the intersection of traditional knowledge, circular material practices, computational design, and digital fabrication. . Students will investigate how reclaimed materials can drive architectural design through material performance, tectonic systems, and construction logic. Together, they will develop pavilion proposals, produce physical prototypes, and collectively fabricate and assemble a 1:1 pavilion installation, culminating in shared final reviews. . The studio is led by RMIT Architecture Associate Professor Dr Nic Bao and PhD Candidate Harlan Guo, in collaboration with CUHK Architecture Assistant Professor Shuaizhong Wang. . . RMIT MASTER OF ARCHITECTURE STUDENT LACHIE HARTNETT SHORTLISTED FOR ARCHISOURCE DRAWING OF THE YEAR 2026! . Well done to RMIT Master of Architecture student Lachie Hartnett on being shortlisted for Archisource Drawing of the year 2026. The selected work titled 'Making Contact IV' was completed in Michael Spooner's Design Studio titled 'Salt Saliva Sperm Sweat' in semester 2, 2025 using D5 rendering (@d5officialaccount). . Project statement: "The University is read as a machine that seeks transcendence; tracing lines of accreditation, affiliation and acquisition. Civilisations serve as remnant markers of previous studio work. A place to lay foundations now detached from its origin, depicted as monuments that pierce the sky. Evidence of an afterlife allowed to exist in the new work, divorced from the hands that once held it. Curricula become ordered and unified, disavowing the potential for dissensus. Foregrounding the architecture as an institutional vault of longevity designed to outlast the confines of a singular life. A place to enact itself: to communicate to its campuses, partners and competitors. A vault to a cosmic future, but only if we keep enrolling." . In support of the above critique of the university the drawing incorporates a number of references including a Lamassu (a part of which is visible on the left column). .
