Pull up a chair, because today we’re spotlighting people who show up for us.

Richmond Neighborhood Housing Services (RNHS) has been building affordable homes for Richmond families since 1981 — helping first-time buyers into homeownership, training the next generation of Black and Indigenous developers, and helping elders protect what they’ve built. Black-founded. Black-led. Rooted in the East Bay the same way we’re rooted in West Oakland.

At the helm is Nikki Beasley, RNHS’s Executive Director. From solfood’s very first days, Nikki has shown up at our events, in the room, opening doors to the people doing this work alongside us.

This month, that support went further: a donation that’s helping us keep free meals on the table for our neighbors at the California Hotel.

That’s what it looks like to build together.

That’s why Richmond Neighborhood Housing Services hosted the Money Matters Series: Practical Strategies For Non-Profit Leaders. A conversation centered on strategy, sustainability, collaboration, and community-driven solutions.

Throughout the event, speakers and attendees shared insight on fundraising, storytelling, relationship-building, and the importance of taking action now.

One of the biggest reminders from the day: nonprofit leaders do not have to navigate these uncertain times alone. There are communities, partnerships, and support systems that can help organizations continue to thrive.
