It’s not every day, as a scene and as a culture, that we get celebrated in historical spaces.

@wolvesartandculture is one of those spaces and tonight, Road to Release, grime culture and rap culture are being celebrated right here.

Tonight we do a grime set.
Tonight we do a rap set.
Tonight we link up.
Everybody comes through and does their thing.

This is culture in a historical space.

6PM TONIGHT.
WOLVERHAMPTON ART GALLERY.

Come through. Come represent. Come shut it down.

LET’S GO. 🔥 by @road.2.release

Road2Release started with a belief that talent already exists.

The challenge is creating the spaces, relationships, opportunities and networks that allow that talent to grow.

Over the last year, Wolverhampton Art Gallery has worked with three cohorts of emerging artists through Road2Release, connecting them with producers, managers, creatives and real-world opportunities.

This exhibition captures that journey.

The planning. The people. The partnerships. The performances. The community.

Road2Release: Retrospective is now open at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.

Come and experience the story so far.

Road2Release: Retrospective is now open at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.

Over the last year, @road.2.release has worked with three cohorts of emerging artists from Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas, providing access to industry professionals, studio sessions, live performance opportunities, mentoring and creative networks.

What started as an artist development programme became something bigger: a platform for connection, collaboration and community.

This exhibition documents that journey through photography, film, artefacts and artist stories, capturing the people, partnerships and moments that helped shape Road2Release so far.

More than a retrospective, it’s a celebration of the artists, facilitators, collaborators and wider creative community that made it possible.

Open now at Wolverhampton Art Gallery in our Making Space
