Dubrovnik es famoso por dar vida a King’s Landing, uno de los escenarios más icónicos de Game of Thrones ⚔️

La ciudad está repleta de localizaciones donde se rodó la serie, a menudo abarrotadas de gente peleando por el plano perfecto — como la Escalinata de los Jesuitas (“Shame. Shame”) 🔔

Sin embargo, la localización que más me sorprendió (quizás por ser todo lo opuesto) fue el West Harbour. Situado a unos metros de la muralla, este pequeño muelle estaba prácticamente desierto, como si casi nadie recordara que existía 🌊

Un rincón de puertas talladas en la roca durante siglos que me impresionó más al natural que en cualquier plano de la serie 🎬

Dubrovnik built its reputation as King’s Landing. And it wears that crown well ⚔️

The city is full of Game of Thrones filming locations, most of them swarming with people chasing the same shot. The Jesuit Staircase alone feels like a permanent reenactment of the Walk of Shame 🔔

But the spot that stayed with me was West Harbour. A few metres from the old city walls, almost completely empty, like the crowds had simply forgotten it was there 🌊

Doors carved straight into the rock, centuries before any camera ever pointed at them. Somehow more striking in person than anything the show did with it 🎬

Napoleón no exageró.

Estambul es un lugar donde Europa se desvanece poco a poco, mientras Asia espera al otro lado del Bósforo 🌇

Aquí, una llamada a la oración se mezcla con el sonido lejano de los ferris, los bazares conviven con cafeterías modernas y las huellas de romanos, bizantinos y otomanos no se sustituyen entre sí, sino que se superponen 🔗

Quizás por eso Estambul se siente como una amalgama de civilizaciones, en la que el pasado no se marcha. Convive. Discute con el presente.

Y quizá esa sea su mayor singularidad: poder existir en varios siglos al mismo tiempo ⌛️

Istanbul is where Europe slowly fades awaydissolves, while Asia waits just across the Bosphorus 🌇

Here, the call to prayer blends into the distant hum of ferries, bazaars sit beside modern cafés, and the traces of Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans don’t replace each other, they stack, layer upon layer 🔗

Maybe that’s why Istanbul feels less like a city and more like an amalgam of civilizations, where the past never really leaves. It lingers. It argues with the present.

And perhaps that’s its greatest paradox: It doesn’t move through time. It contains it ⌛️

De la luz filtrándose entre las cúpulas de las mezquitas a caminar por ruinas griegas. Escuchar el silencio absoluto del desierto de Capadocia o perderse en calas de la Costa Turquesa. Tú eliges.

Kotor es uno de esos lugares que sientes que descubriste justo a tiempo 🏔️

Como si el Dubrovnik anterior a los cruceros aún sobreviviese en algún rincón del Adriático 🌊

Esta pequeña ciudad de Montenegro es un laberinto de calles medievales con iglesias de piedra milenarias y plazas que aún pertenecen a la gente local.

Su bahía, el fiordo más meridional de Europa, esconde pueblos diminutos como Perast o Prčanj. Sitios pequeños, silenciosos, casi improbables.

🇲🇪Montenegro significa “Montaña Negra” en veneciano. Desde aquí, con la luz del atardecer cayendo sobre la piedra, entiendes que el nombre nunca fue una metáfora.

Kotor feels like a place you stumbled upon just in time 🏔️

Like Dubrovnik before the cruise ships, somehow still here, tucked into a quiet corner of the Adriatic 🌊

A maze of medieval streets, ancient stone churches, and squares that still feel like they belong to the locals.

Its bay, the southernmost fjord in Europe, hides tiny villages like Perast and Prčanj. Small, quiet, almost improbable.

🇲🇪Montenegro means “Black Mountain” in Venetian. Stand here as the late afternoon light hits the stone and you’ll understand the name was never a metaphor.

Más allá de La Habana Vieja y Varadero, hay otra Cuba 🇨🇺

Decidí explorar Cuba con la mente abierta y encontré cosas maravillosas como los mogotes de Viñales, los pueblos coloniales de Trinidad o las playas cristalinas de Playa Larga 🌊

Pero la Cuba rural no es el cartel de la revolución, ni el cliché del ron y la salsa. Es el esfuerzo cotidiano hecho paisaje 🐂

Bueyes que siguen arando como hace cien años, un niño con una bicicleta que se sostiene de milagro, carretas de caballos donde no llega el combustible, hambre que no entiende de ideologías.

Imágenes que no encajan con la tuya y que, por eso mismo, no se olvidan.

Viajar también es esto. Que la realidad ajena te revuelva por dentro, aunque no puedas - ni debas - pretender que la entiendes del todo 👁️

Past Old Havana and Varadero, another Cuba begins 🇨🇺

I set out with an open mind and found things that took my breath away: the limestone giants of Viñales, the colonial squares of Trinidad, the still waters of Playa Larga 🌊

But rural Cuba isn’t a revolution poster or a cliché of rum and salsa. It’s the weight of everyday life turned into landscape 🐂

Oxen breaking ground the same way they did a century ago. A child riding a bike that shouldn’t still be standing. Horse-drawn carts where fuel never reaches. Hunger that has no use for ideology.

Images that have no place in your world, which is exactly why they never leave you.

Travel is this too. Letting a reality that isn’t yours get under your skin, even when you know you’ll never fully understand it 👁️

Fui al Teide pensando en llegar al volcán.

Pero lo que más me marcó no fue llegar, sino parar. Recorrer el paisaje sin prisa y quedarme mirando las montañas, el viento y ese silencio raro que envuelve todo.

A veces viajar no consiste en ver más lugares.
Sino en encontrar uno que consiga detenerte 🌋

I went to Teide thinking about reaching the volcano.

But what stayed with me most wasn’t getting there, it was slowing down. Wandering through the landscape with no rush, watching the mountains, the wind, and that strange silence that seems to wrap around everything.

Sometimes travel isn’t about seeing more places.
It’s about finding one that makes you stop 🌋

Conocí a Eusebio en una pequeña venta en la zona rural del Valle de Viñales 🇨🇺

Intercambiar palabras en Cuba con un desconocido es casi tradición. Así fue como me enteré de que Eusebio, ya en sus sesenta, llevaba toda su vida entre mogotes y tierras de cultivo 🌾

Un trago más bastó para que nos invitara, a mis amigos y a mí, a su modesto rancho, a unos minutos de allí, cruzando caminos de tierra.

El rancho consistía en una cabaña sencilla y un cobertizo de madera. En este último Eusebio nos habló de su día a día mientras mostraba lo que producía: miel, polen de abeja y algunos licores caseros 🐝

Eusebio hablaba despacio, como quien pesa cada palabra. Y en ese ritmo tranquilo se insinuaba una vida marcada por la necesidad.

🫴🏼 Nos ofreció probarlo todo, sin pedir nada a cambio. Solo al final dudó un instante, como si sus valores discutieran en silencio con la realidad.

A día de hoy no tengo muy claro a qué se dedica Eusebio. Probablemente a todo lo que le permite seguir, en un lugar donde tener un solo oficio es un auténtico lujo.

I met Eusebio in a small shop in the rural area of Viñales Valley 🇨🇺

In Cuba, striking up a conversation with a stranger is almost part of the rhythm of life. That’s how I learned Eusebio, already in his sixties, had spent his entire life among mogotes and farmland 🌾

One more drink was all it took for him to invite my friends and me to his modest ranch, just a few minutes away, down dirt tracks.

The ranch consisted of a simple cabin and a wooden shed. In the latter, Eusebio told us about his daily life while showing what he produced: honey, bee pollen, and some homemade spirits 🐝

Eusebio spoke slowly, as if weighing every word. And in that calm pace, a life marked by necessity was quietly revealed.

🫴🏼 He offered us everything, asking for nothing in return. Only at the very end did he pause for a second, as if his principles were quietly clashing with reality.

To this day, I’m not very clear about what Eusebio does. Probably everything that allows him to get by, in a place where having just one job feels like a luxury in itself.

Tenerife es sal en los labios, viento que susurra entre barrancos y verde que gotea en cada curva; hojas anchas que se mecen con la brisa y lava dormida sobre el cielo del Teide 🌋

Tenerife es memoria guanche latiendo en una tierra que no se deja apresurar, que invita a sentirla despacio. Como si, en una época en la que parece que viajar signifique consumir lugares y tacharlos de la lista, cada paisaje reclamara algo más que ser visto 👁️

El Valle de Viñales es uno de los sitios más sorprendentes de Cuba. Acompáñame a esta increíble ruta:

1. Mogotes imponentes y campos de tabaco dibujan un paisaje único 🌄
2. El camino arranca a las afueras del pueblito de Viñales🚶‍♂️
3. Durante toda la ruta se ven bueyes, aquí la tradición sigue viva🐂
