Speechless! Namibia just casually doing what Namibia does best… blowing our minds! 😅 Namtib biosphere, on the D707 is just a dream come true! When we came here for the first time 5/6 Years ago, my Dad and I said we wanted to bring the rest of the family here to see this incredible spot too! We made it! What you can’t see in these gorgeous sunset photos is the frosty wind, and the freezing cold night ahead! 😂 we couldn’t make the fire big enough! I think it ended up at around 3C plus wind chill, but you know what? That feeling fades with time, and what’s left behind is this incredible memory, that will live rent free in my mind for ever! This next part of the trip really ramps up the experience for my family, and every day brought us something new and exciting! Next up we were heading to Sesriem!

Luderitz has such an interesting atmosphere, the light and landscapes have a look and feeling that is so unique. If you ever feel like digging deeper into the history of Luderitz, it’s quite a story and Shark Island is definitely a reminder of its storied past. It’s about as harsh as the landscape. The people who call Luderitz home must be tough as nails, because it’s a very intense place to live, because you are constantly at the will of nature! The weather can get quite hectic! We got pretty lucky this time around, we just got to enjoy it all this time! 👏🏻

PS: Our accomodation was a brilliant recommendation by @ultimate_routes it was an incredible view from the Cormorant House

Our trek across Namibia Enroute to Luderitz, was full of spectacular desert landscapes, the unique history of the area leaves a chill in the air, and the halls abandoned buildings in Kolmanskop, holds many stories, both incredible tales of wealth and technology, and some dark history to learn from. I think this time spending more time in Luderitz we will get to enjoy this brilliant town (I have to say this other @nickyvrooyen will hurt me 😂). Needless to say the family was just eating up the experience and having the time of their lives!

This time around we would be seeing a different side of Namibia! It was so lovely and green! All the rainfall this year had transformed the landscapes, it felt like surreal, compared to our first time coming through here, and now when my family come back and see the proper dry landscapes they are going to think that is surreal! 😂 We really had some awesome drives through the mountains around the Ais Ais/ Richtersveld National Park! 10/10 would do again! You’ve just gotta stop at the Canyon Roadhouse for a breakfast or a burger! It was hustling and bustling with the school holidays!

The Fish River Canyon, one of my favourite places in the world! Somewhere my Dad and I have been wanting to show you the family for a while! We came here 5 or maybe 6 years ago! Life has changed so much since then, and how we stand at the precipice of the Canyon, side by side, with an adventure of a life time before us. Namibia, we are ready for what you have to teach us! Let’s go!

10 years in the making, that day I first sat down with my family and told them about my idea called Roam Overlanding. They indulged a young man’s desire for adventure! Year after year I traveled further and further, and made more and more videos. My dad had joined on 3 trips before, and I finally managed to convince him to buy a Landcruiser! We have been restoring his Cruiser and my brother’s at @roam_workshop and this was the moment we had all been waiting for! Bags backed, family loaded, and 3 100 series Landcruisers in Convoy on our first ever Family Overlanding Trip! Destination: Namibia!

Our final evening in the park! I can’t believe the journey. The quality of the Overlanding experience in Gonarezhou is 👌🏻 It’s tough, beautiful & remote, what more can you ask for? Our second last day has us making our way to Chinguli, a beautiful little developed campsite, situated in just the most magnificent setting, with a view of Chilojo in the distance, epic rock formations right over the river, and flushing toilets 😂 You can also buy firewood and fill up water, so it’s a good place to know! From here on, we are making our way back out of the park, and the beginning the slow journey back to Joburg so everyone can fly back to the “real” world. I had one last push to get back to @roam_workshop in Cape Town!

Thanks to the team for such an awesome experience, and I can’t wait to share the YouTube series soon!

After over a week of being in Gonarezhou, driving around everyday looking for exciting wildlife sightings! We had plenty of the typical animals, but today was a special day! @scottmartinimages & @anthoard had been putting in the hours driving around looking for lions and were happily rewarded, but all of a sudden a group of wild dogs came blasting through the plains, we spent a solid 15minutes following them while they were on a hunt, it was an insanely unique experience! Brilliant!

Machaniwa Pan was full of life! The air rings out with bird calls, frogs, insects… our campsite was surrounded by thick dense forest and an incredible open vista, overlooking the pan. Jacana’s tippy toeing over the lillipads, egrets and ducks flying over the water, elephants bathing and drinking water, while the hippos bob around laughing as the sun starts to go down. A truly rare spot. But just remember those bugs! 🫠 the mosquitoes were a different breed, and saw DEET as a challenge 🫣 these vehicles had brought us all the way out here, and after days of operating out of them, I think everyone was impressed with their setups. All unique and different, but capable and comfortable for everyone. I love it!

It was time to turn away from the river, and head in towards Macheniwa Pan! With spectacular scenery, and loads of wildlife, this was our chance to try and get some proper sightings! Seeing as we would be camping next to the pan, this was our perfect base camp for heading out and exploring the pans, giving us the best shot! It was so great to have a camper to hop in and have a lekker midday snooze!

We were getting an early morning start on a game drive, splitting up, I was trying to get shots of the morning birds whilst @anthoard & @scottmartinimages were on the hunt for lions, and they were closer than ever! After a great drive, it was time to head back to camp, Ant had planned a day full of feasting and was treating us to an epic authentic carbonara! It’s great having a day at camp to tighten some nuts and bolts, have a good shower and just sit around enjoying the scenery. Right about now I got hit with a sudden and strange feeling of pain and weakness, so I could luckily tuck away in my camper and try sleep it off! Waking up to the glorious smell of roast lamb, and freshly made pita breads.. I thought I had died and gone to heaven! 😂

It was time to make some big moves through the park again! On our way was the Chilojo Cliffs viewpoint, a very worthwhile detour! We heard that there was a potential that our camp would have been washed away and would be inaccessible, so we went to go and see how it was looking for ourselves. Needless to say there really wasn’t much to worry about a little bit of low range and our magical campsite was all ours!

A really beautiful spot for the next few days, to properly chill at the river front. @scottmartinimages had gotten his fishing permits for these days, so he was stoked to make the most of it! 👏🏻

@kimmi.knight had been hiding some lovely prawns away in the deep freeze, so we had a real surprise on the braai tonight! 😄

We are really looking forward to the next few days, to head out for some game drives and just enjoy some relaxing time in the bush!
