Leadville MTB 100. 6/332 ag. 60/1432 overall. 2023 Leadville was what (belatedly) got me into racing so this was a homecoming, of sorts, long in the making. A benchmark to see what the last three years of literal blood, a LOT of sweat (and some tears) earned me.

The altered course (due to wildfires) made it interesting trying to figure out pacing but I went off the race director’s estimate that it would be about 45 mins faster, which proved to be about right based on the winning times.

I was shooting for 7:30hrs but shocked myself with a 7:01 finish. (Some more tears may have been shed 🤫)

It was made all the more special with my @trmnus_works teammates @buckles4life & @bwallaceatl also bringing home the big buckle.

2025 @gravel_worlds in the bag. A 150 mile bag of mud, sweat, and gears. Entered the infamous MMR3 (massively muddy road) in the lead group of 8. Exited in the high 20’s. 20ft in I was completely gummed up in peanut butter. Tried to run with the bike but after a few hundred meters weighed down w/ mud, my fused right ankle that sees very little running had my calf barking at me. I took the time to clear as much mud as possible before being able to roll again, and the cramps kept coming.

Fortunately the water oasis at mile 75 baptized me and I was able to pick-up 12 places on the back half, P27 and 7AG.

Hats off to @jasonstrohbehn, @sofiasedona and crew for throwing down one of the most well-organized gravel races that had ALL the good vibes. Will definitely be back for revenge! 🤣

…oh, and a huge shoutout to @silca_velo - the secret sauce and endurance chip saved me from hours of chain/gear grinding… and a padded cell!

More to say later, but took 4th overall and first in age group in The Rift Iceland. By far the most brutal gravel race I’ve ever ridden. Surprisingly the 4wk old collarbone surgery wasn’t an issue but virtually every other part of my body hurts! 😂 taken in Iceland by @rob.downs.trmnus

@homegrowngravel - 5ag. Started muddy & foggy. Ended sunny & HOT! PR’d by 8 minutes. Had some great lessons to take away from this one - mainly to stick to my trusty pack vs. bottles. It seems so tempting to start light and hit aid stations - it’s just not worth the time loss and underhydrating/feed (for me). A great event that brings out a lot of friends, that makes for a great post-race hang.

Quite the transition day - from frozen fingers to sweat showers, it was another beautiful day on the bike with quality people in the splendor of them North GA mountains. Smashed the big climbs and took a state of the gravel conditions for the Southern Cross race in a couple weeks.
