Me & director @edgarwright Got to meet & chat with one of my filmmaking heroes and finally thank him for not only providing great cinema, SHAUN OF THE DEAD, SCOTT PILGRIM & BABY DRIVER (to name a few), but plenty of laughs when my mum and I needed them the most with “Hot Fuzz Sundays” - especially when she wasn’t well and in and out of hospital… thank you also for over hearing my stressful phone call at the BFI about the struggle of trying to get Punching Bag financed and you simply said “it’s gonna be okay”…and you were right - absolute legend, thank you again 🙏🏾👊🏽 by @robayling

Earlier this month, I attended the awesome @lythamiff where PUNCHING BAG screened along side some fantastic short films - including the Oscar nominated @afodorothy_film and sharing the Q&A stage with @jddean1 - @sugasuppiah’s work was awarded Best Editing, which was a lovely surprise! Many congratulations Suga on the award! 🥊🔥A brilliant film festival that champions diverse, independent filmmaking - special thanks to Ed Greenberg, @thejacksmit & @kathryngeorghiou for making the festival that extra special 🙏🏾👊🏽 #film #cinema #filmfestival #polaroid #filmmaking by @robayling

This is what 30 years of survival & growth looks like. 12th July 1996, my father is diagnosed with lung cancer, 11 days later he passes away…the idea of normality quickly vanished…and there have been many, many challenges that have been faced her way…nevertheless for 30 years, I have been blessed with a ‘wonder woman’ parent, who not only provides excellent Indian cuisine, but helps raise funding for victims and survivors of domestic violence. She has most recently become an unintentional comedian, the material involving embarrassing stories of me, naturally, those of you who have met her will acknowledge this. With 30 years, I have gained so many lessons. To name just a few; Be yourself, even when others force you to be something else. Curiosity discovers truth (that can be applied for life as well as work). Surround yourself with people who listen, love & respect you for who you are. Never give up, even when life throws the biggest punches at you. Today, Savita toasted to 30 years, “not just for survival & growth, but for moving forward, only forward” #30years #Forward #polaroid by @robayling

A former coffeeshop barista champion, turned award winning filmmaker, Rob Ayling @robayling writes and directs films and theatre productions in London. He is best known for his boxing drama _Punching Bag_ and the multi-award winning, independent Batman film; _Living in Crime Alley_. Rob credits the work of The Animated Series, Tim Burton’s films and Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy as massive influences towards his own films, with _The Dark Knight_ being his favourite. Rob has been a massive Batman fan since the age of 5, so much so that he has been nicknamed by friends as “The Dork Knight”. Join us and Rob for a screening of The Dark Knight on 21st June 6.30pm and a post film discussion @beehiven17 where we’ll discuss the characters.
