Registration is officially open for the 2nd Annual The Brotherhood: Black Men & Boys Health, Wellness & Empowerment Summit — hosted by the organization I founded, @inspirecommunitycoalition.

This summit is about more than just an event — it’s about building up our Black men and boys in every area of life: mentally, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially.

We’ll have:

✔️ Community connection & empowerment opportunities

🎥 A message from California Attorney General Rob Bonta @agrobbonta

At Saturday's inaugural My Brother's Keeper Long Beach Summit, we opened the day with a special video message from Attorney General Rob Bonta to the young people, families, and leaders of Long Beach.

"The Safety of all Californians will always be a priority" — Attorney General Rob Bonta

His message wasn't symbolic. It reflects real alignment between the State's work and what Long Beach is building.

Long Beach chose My Brother's Keeper Milestone 6 as its focus: keeping young people safe from violence and giving them second chances. Attorney General Bonta's work points in the same direction:

🔹 The CARE Office, which he created in 2021 to build trust between the Department of Justice and communities like ours

🔹 The Office of Gun Violence Prevention, the first of its kind under a state attorney general, created to break down silos across agencies, which is exactly what Long Beach 360 is designed to do

🔹 A five-year gun violence strategic plan that treats community violence intervention and trauma recovery as a permanent pillar of public safety

🔹 The Bureau of Children's Justice, focused on safeguarding every child

🔹 Support for survivors and families affected by violence

🔹 CalVIP, California's investment in community violence intervention, which has helped fund violence prevention work right here in Long Beach

For young people from marginalized communities, safety means more than fewer shootings. It means safe streets, safe schools, healing, and a real path forward. That's what Milestone 6 is about, and it takes the City, the County, the State, and the community working at one table.

Yesterday, Long Beach came together. 🙏🏾

More than 100 young people, parents, advocates, community leaders, and elected officials from the City, County, and State filled Long Beach City College for the inaugural My Brother's Keeper Long Beach Summit and the launch of Long Beach 360.

I had the honor of moderating The 360 Panel: Full Circle — One young person. Every system. One table. As a son of the Eastside, watching every system sit at one table for our young people meant everything.

Long Beach, I'll see you tomorrow! 💙

I was born and raised on the Eastside, so it means a lot to help lead the MBK Long Beach Summit. This is the official launch of Long Beach 360, a community-led effort focused on youth safety, well-being, violence prevention and systems change.

Here's what's happening:

Long Beach, this Saturday is bigger than an event.

Last fall, the Obama Foundation recertified Long Beach as a My Brother's Keeper community. That came after years of work to bring MBK back to our city. Our community chose one goal: every young person in Long Beach should be safe from violence.

On Saturday, Oct. 10, we launch Long Beach 360, the framework built to make that happen.

What is Long Beach 360? It's based on the Omaha 360 model, which brings everyone who touches a young person's life together: families, schools, faith leaders, community groups, health providers, employers, and public safety. Everyone works as one team, so no young person falls through the cracks.

I grew up on the Eastside. I've seen what happens when systems work in silos, and I've seen what's possible when a community moves together. This is our chance to do it right.

The day includes: youth presentations, a CVI honor ceremony honoring those on the front lines, a keynote, a leadership panel, breakout sessions, and a free community resource fair from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

🎉 44 YEARS. GRATEFUL. BLESSED. PURPOSEFUL. 🙏🏾

Today, I celebrate 44 years of life — and I don’t take a single year for granted.

I’m grateful for the journey: the victories, the challenges, the lessons, the growth, the people who have loved me, supported me, challenged me, and walked alongside me. Every chapter has helped shape the man I am becoming.

At 44, I’m still dreaming. Still building. Still learning. Still believing. Still becoming.

Most importantly, I’m grateful to God for His grace, His covering, His patience, and the purpose He has placed on my life. I know there is still more ahead.

This next chapter is about greater purpose, deeper faith, stronger relationships, meaningful impact, generational legacy, and becoming everything God has called me to be.

44 isn’t just another number.

It’s another year of grace. Another year of growth. Another year to make an impact. Another year to build legacy.

Today, I celebrate YOU — the woman, the wife, the friend, the blessing, and the beautiful soul that God placed in my life.

Nicole, 50 years of life is more than a milestone — it is 50 years of memories, growth, strength, wisdom, love, and purpose. And I’m grateful that I get to share this chapter with you.

He doesn’t wait for your walls to come down on their own; He meets you right behind them. When trauma and disappointment have taught you to guard your heart against everyone else, it’s easy to build that same wall against God—protecting yourself from the very One who wants to heal you.

But today, He is gently saying: Drop your guard and let Me in. When you accept the invitation to “Come, follow me,” you don’t have to carry your baggage or your armor into your future. Open your heart in obedience, lay down the heavy luggage, and let the Father mend every broken piece. 🕊️
