Back home after a successful surgery.

I want to thank a lot of people who helped me to get home safely and took good care of me. Special thanks to the medical team behind me, @decathloncmacgmteam , @teulingkxtom and @az.herentals

Unfortunately my race came to an early end here at the @theuaetourofficial

Due to an unfortunate crash I was forced to abandon the race with a broken collarbone.
Being forced to leave the race early when feeling great on the bike again wasn’t on my wish list at all.

But now it’s time for surgery at the start of next week.
And then we will try to get back on the bike as soon as possible to hopefully make it back before the classic period ends.

Special thanks to the team and medical staff for the great care and personal guidance.

Je bent niet alleen mijn grote liefde, maar ook de allerbeste mama voor onze kindjes. Ik zie elke dag hoeveel liefde, geduld en kracht jij in ons gezinnetje stopt, en ik ben zo trots op je echt meer dan je weet.

The last one… Tomorrow I start my last official race in the colours of @alpecindeceuninck here at @zesdaagse Rotterdam. I’m so grateful for the past 3 years. The list of people I want to thank is too long, but to all the friends, colleagues, mechanics, soigneurs and everyone I’ve worked with: a special thank you from me. I will miss you all.

This year felt like I was finally ready to make a big step in my career. But life hit my fiancée and me hard, and together this made it difficult to come back to my top form and show my worth.

Everything I’ve been through has changed the way I look at life.

Thank you, @tom_verhaegen and my doctor @robrechtbruneel, for guiding and supporting me when I needed it most.
