Kei…you did it! Congrats on ending your legendary career on the court, on your terms, just how you deserve to. I hope you’re full of peace with all you achieved.

I’m sorry for not being in Tokyo for your retirement ceremony today...please know I planned to but Naomi is on a great run here in Beijing. Vamos!

Kei, after all these years it’s tough to find the right words, but I think the Japanese phrase, “Otsukaresama deshita”, says it best.

Ostukare-sama deshita Kei…”to a job well done”. You ventured where no other Asian-born ATP player had ever gone before, putting the weight of your country, your family, the media, the critics, your fans, and our team on your back and fought. I know it was far from easy and the pressure was immense, but you fought. Through pain and injuries, your ankle, elbow, hip , shoulder (etc!) and so many other physical issues no one but our team will ever know about, you endured, and you found a way...and even more, you did it with so much grace and class!

Ostukare-sama deshita Kei…”thanks for your hard work”. Thank you not just for winning the five setters, the backhands down the line, the highlight reels, and the championships...but thanks for those times we were the last ones on the courts training at IMG or when we had to track down security to open the gym on Sunday mornings. Thanks for trekking out to Chicago for our training camps. Whether we were on grassy hills at local parks or on sandy patches on nearby beaches...you pushed, you worked, and you found a way. You became a part of my family, a part of our neighborhood, a HUGE part of our team at Performance in Motion (shout out Jacob!), and through it all, you put Japanese tennis on the map and opened up doors for so, so many after you...the game will forever by impacted because of you Kei.

Ostukare-sama deshita Kei…”goodbye”. Goodbye to this very legendary part of your life, but I have no doubt that you’re just in “Set 2” of that 5 set match of your life…and all Kei fans know, you save your very best for Set 4, and especially, Set 5. We’ve seen it time and time again! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for you and your family in the days ahead.

Happy Retirement Kei!….Robbie by @robbieohashi

This Saturday, June 27, is our family’s 4th Annual Tom Parrish Memorial Golf Tournament for Parkinson’s Disease at Gibson Woods, honoring my late Father-in-Law. From our amazing golfers, to our generous sponsors and donors, it has been a blessing to see how much we can do when we all come together to support a great cause like this. It’s not too late to donate! Please see the link in my bio and help us beat PD. ALL donations go directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. DM me for details as needed. @teamfoxmjff

Thank you @jessicaschiffer and @hard_court for the feature and for highlighting so many people and areas of tennis that may otherwise be overlooked. Keep up the great work! by @robbieohashi

My mind is blown by this masterpiece by @maddowmaddow. As the son of a former prisoner of the Minidoka (@friendsofminidoka) WWII Incarceration camp, I could not stop listening, learned so much, and throughout the podcast was filled with emotions of sadness, anger, and more than anything, immense pride for the many heroes of that time, many I heard of for the first time.

If you are interested at all about Japanese-American history, I highly encourage you to listen…but to be honest, this is not just a Japanese-American story. It is a story that every American needs to understand and learn about. There are simply far too many parallels experienced in our great country today and we must “Stop Repeating History”. So many more Japanese-American stories to tell and I hope there is more to come. Please take a listen!!!

✨Sophia’s senior photo session ✨ It feels like only yesterday that I was photographing her family on their porch during Covid (check out my stories 😊).

I am truly honored to capture the significant milestone of her high school senior year 💕
