The leading voice of global luxury—synonymous with the best of the best in Thailand and around the world.

AELA Social Bar has opened on Sukhumvit Soi 18 with its own entrance and a cocktail list crafted around emotion as well as flavour. A Journey Through States, drawn from the district’s nightscape, gathers 16 signatures into four states of perception, from the fruit and citrus of Arrival to Release, where Thai herbs and spices rework spirit-forward classics in drinks such as Temple of Memory and Bangkok After Dark.

In between, Orientation toys with expectation: tropical aromas without the fruit, espresso richness without the bean, in Tropical Fiction and Espresso Without Espresso. Ground, home to Origin and After Rain, reaches for koji, pandan, mango and coconut cream among other Thai and Asian ingredients.

Liquid Thinking is the bar’s name for the philosophy, and the creative force behind the cocktails is Beverage & Bars Manager Alexander Falcetelli Makarov, Russian-born, raised in Italy and with an engineering background. “The best cocktails aren’t just tasted; they’re remembered,” he says.

The room is conceived as a living piece of crystal: light moving across reflective surfaces and crystal glassware, from a curved wall of lit glass panels to stemware racked above the bar. Reflection is the bar’s metaphor for company.

Our Assistant Digital Editor, @kaloklao, was on the scene.

A daytime lounge that turns into a cocktail bar after dark, AELA Social Bar is open daily from 9 am to midnight, with entrances on Soi 18 and, through @fairmontbangkok, on Soi 20.

The World Gourmet Festival, now in its 26th edition, keeps Bangkok where it belongs: among the great food cities of the world. Nine of Thailand’s 43 Michelin-starred restaurants put a chef on this year’s programme, at Anantara Siam Bangkok from 29 September to 4 October, and the chefs cooked alongside guests from cities including Singapore, Santa Monica, Bogotá, Rome, Vienna, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City and Cotonou. The festival has been bringing chefs to Bangkok since long before Michelin published its first guide to the city, in December 2017.

Ten chefs opened it on 29 September with a celebration in the Grand Ballroom, and guest bartenders from bars across Asia poured at AQUA all week.

First, three visitors each had a kitchen to themselves. Julien Royer, whose Odette in Singapore has three Michelin stars, cooked at Madison, the hotel’s New York-style steakhouse, on 30 September; Álvaro Clavijo, whose El Chato topped Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2025, cooked at Guilty the next night. Both dinners sold out, as did Dave Pynt’s at Madison and Eunjung Cho’s three afternoon teas in the Lobby.

Then the kitchens were shared. On Saturday 3 October it came in threes, two visiting chefs and one from Bangkok in each of three restaurants: Madison paired Santa Monica and Vienna with Bangkok; Spice Market, Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City with Bangkok; Guilty, Cotonou and Rome with Bangkok. The Bangkok chef in each cooks in a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Saturday’s other headliner was Thai. A mango sticky rice 101.15 metres long, set on banana leaves, earned the hotel the @guinnessworldrecords title for the longest in the world, and Heros De Agostinis, who cooks at INEO in Rome, was among the chefs who helped put it together. On Sunday, fittingly for a hotel long known for its brunch, the week closed with one at Parichart Court.

Our Editor-in-Chief, @tasukon, finds what the festival does best in those Saturday trios: two visitors and a Bangkok chef cooking side by side, the spotlight shared three ways.

One Bangkok Retail has given golf a runway. At One Bangkok Urban Golf Club, ten brands, from BOSS and Cole Haan to Adidas and New Era, outfitted the game for the city. Golf, says One Bangkok‘s Chief Retail Officer, Palinee Kongchansiri, has gone beyond sport: it now reflects fashion, identity and community, and the complex is positioning itself as a golf lifestyle destination.

Our Assistant Digital Editor, @kaloklao, was on the scene. Sarit Suwannarut, a Thai professional golfer and two-time Asian Tour winner, had beginners in mind, advising them to start with a love of the game, try clubs before buying a full set, and dress for the heat in breathable fabrics; golf, he added, takes time. Actor Top Todsapol Maisuk said there is no need to choose the best equipment on the market, and fellow actor Foei Patara Eksangkul advised finding what suits one’s swing. Only Golf, one of the ten brands, offers expert club fitting.

LENGOLF, a premium indoor golf simulator and bar for professionals and newcomers alike, follows at One Bangkok Retail towards the end of the year, its bar ready to serve as the nineteenth hole.

From 30 September to 31 October 2026, One Bangkok members can redeem discounts and prizes worth THB 1.6 million at participating brands‘ shops. The three highest-spending members also receive a stay-and-golf package at Toscana Valley, Khao Yai, valued at up to THB 96,000 (terms apply).

Loro Piana has set Solutions For, its Spring/Summer 2027 men’s and women’s collection, in a Milan library, with the bags on ladders, the scarves arranged in walnut cases and poems beside the sketches. The season is organised by need: warmth, life outdoors, golf days, evenings, early getaways and beach days.

Our Editor-in-Chief, @tasukon, hears the idea behind the title in Sergio Loro Piana’s own words, as his widow, Luisa, recalled them to System magazine in January 2025: “I don’t do fashion; I give my friends and clients elegant solutions.” The family’s first venture into clothing, she says, was the Horsey Jacket of 1992, made for Italy’s equestrian squad at the Barcelona Games, and the rest grew from it.

Among the men’s archetypes are the camel blazer, the balmacaan coat, the trench coat and the safari field jacket; the women’s take in the camel blazer, the little black dress and the cape. For summer, men get Bermuda shorts and linen trousers on a drawstring; women get a crochet ensemble, an apron dress or a silk pyjama. The accessories include a Heddle tote, a Pioneer backpack and a golf-inspired derby for men, and a new size of the Loom and the Sunday Walk sneaker for women.

The presentation, part of Milan Fashion Week, was held at the Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense, inside Palazzo di Brera; founded in 1770, the library opened to the public in 1786. The Sala Maria Teresa, which Giuseppe Piermarini created in 1785 in honour of the empress, holds her portrait and canvas panels edged in Kummel, the house’s own colour, each with a sketch of an archetype. Among the panels, one for the camel blazer reads “A Solution For Natural Authority” and another “A Solution For Following Your Goals”, each finishing the sentence that the title begins. Beyond that room, the reading room is a lounge with four tables on the craft behind the clothes.

The men’s collection carries Rain System and Storm System treatments on trenches, blousons, bombers, and overshirts, and colours named for things grown or foraged, including Pomegranate peel, Fruity quince, Glazed chanterelle, and Fig branch.

KROMO Bangkok, Curio Collection by Hilton, begins its second year by changing what is inside its cabinet of wonders.

The hotel was designed as one, after the nine gems in Bangkok’s full name; the backlit panels at Vilah, its tenth-floor creative social space, refer to cat’s-eye chrysoberyl. KROMO Curations, a rotating programme of art and lifestyle events, is how the contents change.

Series 1 is by Dr Anchana Nangkala, an artist from Nakhon Si Thammarat: oils on linen, made for the anniversary, of tropical rainforest flowers, with Claude Monet’s influence filtered through her own colour and composition. The works are on view at Vilah until the end of October and can be reserved.

At Colette, the French bistro, the bar’s new collection, A Journey Through France’s Wine Landscapes, sets eight wine regions beside Thai ingredients. Sud-Ouest, for the French Basque Country, runs from pineapple and coconut by way of gentle Piment d’Espelette heat to a finish of peated whisky smoke.

Every stay until 31 October earns a chance in the Lucky Draw at the Cabinet of Wonders: a room, an upgrade, food and drink vouchers, souvenirs.

Long regarded as one of the ultimate symbols of luxury dining, caviar has a way of turning even the simplest occasion into something special. For Perseus Caviar, its introduction to Thailand’s private clientele was an appropriately intimate affair.

Previously served exclusively at Michelin-starred restaurants and select luxury hotels around the world, Perseus recently made its debut in Thailand’s private market at Siri Sala Private Villa, Bangkok. Hosted by OK Business Solutions (OKBS), the brand’s exclusive distributor for private clients, the evening brought together 24 invited guests for a caviar tasting paired with Champagnes from B. Martin and Brocard Pierre, accompanied by canapés prepared by OKBS and the Siri Sala culinary team.

At the heart of the experience was Malossol, the Russian term for “lightly salted”, a traditional approach that allows the caviar’s delicate flavours to take centre stage. The evening was equally understated, allowing the caviar, Champagne and conversation to speak for themselves.

Not available through retail channels, Perseus Caviar can now be ordered privately in Thailand through OKBS, whether for an intimate dinner or a special celebration.

Insignia, the lifestyle-management and payment-card group, has entered Thailand with Siam Piwat, the owner of Siam Paragon, Siam Center and Siam Discovery.

The introduction came at A Taste of Insignia, held at the Michelin-starred Blue by Alain Ducasse in ICONSIAM, where Siam Piwat is a joint-venture partner. On show was the Billionaire Jewellery Card, gold-toned and cut away in rays, a newer edition of the card the hospitality brand Billionaire announced in 2023 with Insignia and the jeweller Jacob & Co.

Insignia says five pillars define its experience: Freedom, Craftsmanship, Dedication, Access and Possibility. Its memberships rest on a payment card and one-to-one service, and the collection is arranged by interest: the Wellness Card, with GP-led oversight and priority access to specialists; the Royal Polo Card, for the polo world; the Royal Card, “the defining expression of the Insignia portfolio” in the company’s words; and the Jewellery Card, “the jewel of the Insignia collection.”

Siam Piwat announced on 1 June that Insignia was one of four partners in its Global Privilege Partnership for ONESIAM members. Three of them cover the itinerary: Belmond plans travel one-to-one and greets members at its hotels and on its trains; MJets offers private-jet travel; Galeries Lafayette opens a personal-shopping lounge in Paris. Insignia takes the call that comes at any hour, for a table at a sought-after restaurant or a seat at an event abroad.

Siam Piwat has said it wants the partnership to make Thailand the “Luxury Hub of the World.” Altrata’s count points the same way: 1,210 people worth more than US$30 million with Bangkok as their primary residence in 2025, and roughly 1,840 projected by 2030.

Our Editor-in-Chief, @tasukon, notes that a ONESIAM member who already finds the brands under Siam Piwat’s roofs can now arrange the dinner, the flight and the hotel welcome without leaving the programme.

Insignia lists eight memberships, seven personal and one for business. All are by invitation only; each starts with a conversation.

The first Upper House you can live in is being built on Wireless Road in Bangkok.

A preview is now available by private appointment at the Upper House Residences Lounge on Soi Ruamrudee, where fully furnished show residences across several floors form an immersive introduction to the two towers that City Dynamic, a joint venture of City Realty and @swireproperties, is building on rare freehold land.

Upper House Residences Bangkok has 52 storeys and 156 residences, with interiors by @barstudio_ and wellness programmes by @goco_hospitality, and completes in 2030. The Wireless Residences by Upper House has 71 storeys and 239 residences, with interiors by @pia.interior, and follows in 2031. The development looks over Lumphini Park, Benjakitti Park and the Bangkok skyline, with architectural vision from @fosterandpartners and gardens and sky terraces by @plandscape.

@upperhouse_global began with a hotel above Pacific Place in Hong Kong, ranked No. 8 on The 50 Best Hotels list in September and holder of Two MICHELIN Keys. Hoss Vetry, Managing Director of Swire Hotels, says the brand is bringing the same approach to everyday living, with “homes and services tailored thoughtfully to each resident”. Residents will have a Residence Manager, a concierge on duty around the clock, and à la carte services such as personal training, private tutoring, travel curation and event planning, alongside a curated lifestyle programme with wellness offerings.

At “An Evening at Upper House”, hosted by Mr Vetry with Thomas Woolsey and Casey Au of City Dynamic, the experience reached the table: Upper House flew in Chef Steven of Mi Xun Teahouse at @upperhouse_cd, the restaurant with One MICHELIN Star and Chengdu’s first MICHELIN Green Star, to cook a vegetarian menu. Our Editor-in-Chief, Na Tasukon (@tasukon), was on the scene.

What does the modern luxury traveller expect from an airport lounge?

For Song Hoi See, Founder and CEO of Plaza Premium Group, the answer goes beyond comfort and convenience. It is about creating an experience that reflects the destination itself.

Its latest Bangkok lounges bring together personalised hospitality, contemporary Thai craftsmanship and locally inspired dining, from Northern-style Khao Soi to a Tom Yum-inspired Siamese Martini.

Watch our exclusive conversation with Song Hoi See as he shares his perspective on the future of airport hospitality and the importance of creating a lasting sense of place.

Asked for the one watch that best embodies Piaget, its Global Ambassador Apo Nattawin names the Polo 79, “as of right now”. Our Assistant Digital Editor, @kaloklao, sat down with him at the Piaget Symposium during Siam Paragon Bangkok Watch Week 2026, a session led by Pierre Guerrier, Business Developer and Watchmaking Expert.

Apo defines the Maison today in four parts: individuality, ultra-thin design, the overall silhouette and, most importantly, the gemstones Piaget chooses to use. The Polo 79 in white gold with a sodalite dial holds three of them. Piaget says the stone is the first ornamental one used on the revived Polo 79, the 1200P1 movement behind it is 2.35 mm thick, and the integrated bracelet supplies the silhouette. Apo adds that it strikes “a perfect balance” for casual and formal occasions.

Luxury, he says, is loving and believing in who you are; above all, paying attention to the details in everything you do makes you more luxurious still.

Piaget named the Polo in 1979. Forty-seven years on, Apo chooses the Polo 79 to stand for the Maison.

Cartier gathered its Watch Community at Echo Lounge in Bangkok, and took a Santos de Cartier case apart in front of them. The theme, Watchmaker of Shapes, Master of Crafts, puts design first and asks the watchmaking to serve it. Guests included watch collectors and figures from fashion, art and design.

Our Editor-in-Chief, Na Tasukon (@tasukon), was in the room.

The square was the Santos de Cartier. At Live Watchmaking, a watchmaker in a white coat reassembled its case with guests close enough to follow every step, and at Touch & Try the latest Santos came in numberless dials of grey and burgundy, new to Thailand. Brand ambassador Kimberley Anne Woltemas (@kimmy_kimberley) wore a square of her own, the Panthère de Cartier.

The rectangle was the Tank. The Watch Exhibition included a 1996 Tank Américaine, new Tank Américaine models and the platinum Tank Normale from Cartier Privé. That line brings back designs from Cartier’s own archive, and this year’s edition is its tenth Opus. At Touch & Try, guests could also try on the Tank à Guichets and Tank Asymétrique.

The oval belonged to fellow brand ambassador Tor Thanapob Leeratanakachorn (@thanapob_lee), who wore his own Baignoire, which Cartier dates to 1958. The curves ran from a 2014 Tortue to the platinum Tortue Chronographe Monopoussoir from Cartier Privé’s tenth Opus, with a pink-gold Tonneau Skeleton XL to try on.

The Watch Trunk, holding design sketches and components, covered ten elements of how Cartier makes a watch, from design codes and skeleton work to the meeting of watchmaking and jewellery at the Maison des Métiers d’Art. The exhibition also held a 1973 Vendôme and the Myst de Cartier, Panthère Médaillon and Grain de Café jewellery watches. POLYCAT played live, and DJ Patra Nooq Bunnag closed the night.

Dib Bangkok’s second exhibition treats artworks as living things: they breathe, grow, decay and change.

Giving Life ชีวิต ชีวา opened on 26 September at Dib Bangkok, with more than 160 works from 33 artists. The museum, less than a year old, is on TIME’s list of the World’s Greatest Places of 2026. Founding Chairman Purat “Chang” Osathanugrah describes the show as a celebration of a museum “alive and here to stay”, and expects visitors to find “unexpected joy alongside something deep.”

On Level 1, many works move: Paul Chan’s fan-driven nylon figures appear to act on their own, and Rachel Youn builds sculptures from objects including shiatsu massagers and Chi swings.

In January 1975, as the Vietnam War was ending, Calder’s Circus was shown at the Bhirasri Institute of Modern Art, an event Dib counts as the first showing of his art in the country. Level 2 begins with that history: more than 60 archival items on how performance, installation and conceptual art developed in Thailand in the second half of the twentieth century.

The floor ends with Nawin Nuthong’s Project 147 (๑๔๗), the inaugural CHANEL Gateway Commission.

Level 3 turns to death and rebirth, with Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook’s work in conversation with Anselm Kiefer’s and Montien Boonma’s. Chang sees artists across the show who have taken the scars of war, from the Middle East to Vietnam, and “transformed those painful moments into something beautiful and positive.” Tuan Andrew Nguyen’s Tremor, made from materials associated with unexploded ordnance, takes up the same subject.

Our Editor-in-Chief, @tasukon, contends that the 1975 archive gives the Calder in the Chapel its context: it shows the Bangkok art scene his work arrived in, and how far that scene has come.

Curator Ariana Chaivaranon calls Giving Life “a love letter to artists, to writers, to people who create”, in a world where it is “all too easy, all too cheap to destroy.”

The exhibition runs at 111 Soi Sukhumvit 40 until 3 May 2027.
