Today wasn’t just another Sunday, it was a reminder that God is still changing lives.

We celebrated people taking their next step through baptism, watched others find their place during Fall Groups Launch, and leaned into the truth that because we’re part of God’s family, we don’t have to live powerless—we’ve been given His power to live differently.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Every prayer, every invitation, every act of serving is worth it when lives are being transformed.

IT WAS ALL WORTH IT🥹🥹

Every Street Team Saturday. Every invitation. Every post. Every Dream Team Rally. Every prayer. Every moment of fasting.

It all led to this 277 receiving Jesus and lives being changed.

What mattered most was every person who said yes to Jesus.

Having church in a high school sure has its challenges.

Early morning setups.
Sound issues.
Lighting restrictions.
Space restrictions.
Parking difficulties.
The list could go on and on.

But then there’s Rick. Rick was the security guard who came to work on Sundays.

And somewhere along the way, the security guard who came to work became family.

It started with simply being intentional. Our team learning his favorite Starbucks order and making sure it was waiting for him in the morning.

Conversations in the hallway. Laughing together week after week. Praying him through one of the hardest seasons of his life as he watched his dad transition.

And eventually, Rick found more than a church meeting in a high school.

He found Jesus.

He found community.

He found family.

And somehow, that makes every early morning worth it.

Every setup worth it.

Every limitation worth it.

Every bin loaded and unloaded worth it.

Because there’s a Rick connected to every assignment.

To every church planter and leader reading this: don’t get so busy building the church that you miss the person God put right in front of you.

Your “Rick” might be the security guard at the school.

They might be at the barbershop down the street.

They might work at the coffee shop your team visits every Sunday morning.

They might be someone you’ve walked past a hundred times without realizing that part of the reason God planted you there was for them.

There are a lot of things we’ve rushed past while planting Freedom City. A lot of moments we probably didn’t catch. But man, am I grateful we didn’t rush past Rick.

Because if God brought us all this way… If we prayed all those prayers…built all those teams… setup all these systems galvinized all these people…loaded all those U-haul’s, and set up that high school Sunday after Sunday… so that one man could find Jesus and a family…

It was worth it.

Rick, we came all this way for you.

And Freedom City wouldn’t feel like Freedom City without seeing you in that lower lobby every Sunday.

This is why we plant.

This is why we build.

This is family. 💚
