Some impressions from the second room of my exhibition "Lucy" @mamoth

The atmosphere shifts here — the walls are covered with thick black curtains and the lighting is dimmed. The space becomes more introspective, evoking an inner world shaped by dreams, fears, and isolation. A kind of psychological stage unfolds.

Glowing lamp sculptures illuminate small ceramic scenes. Fragmented moments that suggest intimacy, violence, or desire. Household objects are scattered throughout the room, as if someone had just left, or never really arrived.

As @louisaelderton writes in the press release:

"Brambora has a desire to knock at the symbolic gates of the inner self, at the irrational will to find meaning within a seemingly meaningless world. [...] Small ceramic scenes are illuminated beneath the lamps, speaking to the uncanny nature of fantasies and dreams, of the violence that Lucy encounters in the city, of the loneliness she feels."

A few photos of my installation "Lucy" @_mamoth_
This is the first room of the exhibition.
A kind of work or office situation is staged. As @louisaelderton writes in her beautiful text:

"Where am I exactly? And what am I doing here? Wait, is this a gallery? It seems to be Lucy’s place. But who even is Lucy? And where has she gone? Does she work or live here? I can see traces of her; sense that she was here just a moment ago. Yes, see, she was sitting over there, writing at her desk. “Lucy?” I crane my neck to peer deeper into the room. It looks dark. Maybe she’s back there. Yes, I think I can hear her. “Excuse me, Lucy?”…

Robert Brambora’s exhibition at MAMOTH is intimate and yet strangely unnerving, in part because of a sense of familiarity that is never fulfilled. There are hints of the eponymous Lucy, though while the viewer has been invited into this protagonist’s space, she is nowhere to be seen. Lucy has disappeared. We piece together fragments that point towards who this person may be, how she lives, and what she feels."

Robert Brambora, (@robertbrambora) Fragile Permanence, 2026, installed in the Church of Panagia tou Kastrou, Rhodes.

Berlin-based artist Robert Brambora graduated from the prestigious Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 2015 under Rebecca Warren. His internationally recognized practice features a prolific exhibition history, with recent solo presentations at Sans titre in Paris, EIGEN ART Lab in Berlin, and MAMOTH in London.

This installation combines charred wooden furniture with gilded ceramic reliefs and sculptural elements. The work stages a productive contradiction: precious, luminous ceramic forms “inhabit” objects that carry visible traces of damage and crisis.

Furniture becomes architectural. It recalls both private interiors and collective memory. The ceramic reliefs echo historical traditions of monumental ornament, including socialist public reliefs of the former GDR, while also referencing Renaissance door panels such as Ghiberti’s Gates of Paradise.

The artwork is currently on view at Our Lady of the Castle.

Installation views from `Former Future´ @sanstitre.gallery, Paris.
Paintings from the new series exploring fractured landscapes, witnessing, and the fragile space between system and individual.

“Robert Brambora’s paintings depict urban and suburban landscapes, often fragmented, burned, engulfed in fog or night. The city functions here as a collective system. Human figures appear within these scenes, sometimes isolated, sometimes absorbed into the setting. They play music, watch, wait. Screens, omnipresent, introduce another temporality: that of continuous flow and endless digitality. The eyes that emerge in certain compositions do not merely look, they bear witness. They place the viewer in the position of an observer who is, in turn, drawn into the dispositif.”
