Over the last three days, more than 400 young people graduated from this year’s Access To programme. 🎓

Each year, Access To provides S5 and S6 pupils from across the North East the opportunity to take part in practical, subject-based workshops led by RGU staff. Designed to spark curiosity, build confidence and broaden horizons, the programme helps young people explore pathways into higher education and look into future careers they may not have previously considered.

Gray’s School of Art and Aberdeen Art Gallery invite children and their families to get creative together this October.

Colourful boiler suits become canvases as children add shapes, layer materials and build their own wearable artworks, bringing their creations to life through movement.

The workshop builds on a project originally developed to celebrate the anniversary of 140 years of creative education for Gray’s School of Art. This October’s session brings an explosion of colour to its exploration of Bauhaus ideas and Gray’s teaching legacy.

The original project was supported by Hauser & Wirth, helping Gray’s Mobile Art School bring creative learning to communities across Aberdeen and beyond.

📅 Monday 19 October 2026
🕥 10.30am to 4pm
📍 Aberdeen Art Gallery
🎟️ Free. Drop in, no booking needed.

Come along, try something new and see what you can become!

Gray’s Mobile Art School is supported by @hauserwirth

Gray’s Communication Design student Kyle Wicks @kylew.designs has designed the new signage for the Denis Law Institute of Sport & Wellbeing at RGU.

Drawing on the iconic image featured on the banner inside the Institute, Kyle translated Denis Law’s famous celebration into a gold silhouette measuring around 3.3 metres tall. Purple backlighting creates a halo around the design after dark.

Working with RGU Estates and project partners, Kyle developed the design across materials, lighting, manufacturing and installation. The project gave him valuable experience of taking an idea from the studio into a permanent public setting.

Kyle joined the Institute’s official opening to see the finished work in place. The signage now forms part of a wider collaboration connecting creative practice with sport, health, education and community development, while carrying Denis Law’s legacy forward for future generations.
