Last autumn, I found myself frequently harangued by a particular student, Naomi, telling me that I should put my music up on Spotify and such. Well, about a year ago, I did. My first EP went live on September 28. I did not expect much. But I did get some list eners. I continued putting stuff out there and got progressively more listeners. Then in February, the number jumped. And again in April. And then August and into September it has grown even more.

As of yesterday, September 16, on Spotify alone I had 16,1713 listeners over the past 28 days, and 86,905 streams during the same period. Yesterday alone, I had 1,103 individual listeners and 3,986 streams. These numbers, while nothing compared to professional musicians, are humbling, because they are so far beyond anything I could have ever anticipated or expected or even thought possible.

So thank you @naomigasser for pushing me to put my music out there. I am incredibly grateful, as it has changed my entire outlook on life and the possible. by @robertmhodges

While it looks pretty, Mantoloking Beach is a pretty unpleasant place. First, a cop tailed me almost the entire way from entering the town until I parked (I know, I look shady), and then I walk down to the beach, just to dip my toes in (I was at the shore for an interview), and was told in no uncertain terms that I had to have a badge to go onto the beach. I’ll stick with Ocean City or Cape May, please and thank you. taken in Mantoloking Beach by @robertmhodges

Here is the full album, A Moment in Time. I want to give a shout out to the 2023-2024 @rockacademics students, and especially the graduating class of seniors. They were a continual source of inspiration, pushing me to put myself and my music out there. And to the seniors, who brought me so much joy and happiness. Thank you.
