Neuendorf Arterior launches its first furniture collection during Milan Design Week 2026.

Three pieces shaped by the visual language of the city.
Barriers, markings and defensive structures translated into furniture.

Objects that sit between sculpture and seating.
Built to be used, not just observed.

Next Friday, 29.5.26 17:00 during @berlindesignweek

I’ll be speaking about my collection Urban Signals, guided systems and breaking intended functions within public space.

Using my @milan.design.week intervention as an example.

And then another door opened.

A few months ago, Alexander Garbe and I met by chance on a street in Milan. I was there with my furniture. We talked for a moment and then both went our way.

Months later, @boiebaumann heard me speaking about my studio search during my panel talk at the HH matchmaking session. He immediately connected the dots and brought Alexander and me back together.

Alexander basically said: Come in.

Now @neuendorf_arterior Arterior has a new home at @stilwerk Hamburg.

The space is huge and has so much potential. Alexander and I already have an idea of what this collaboration could become. I do not want to share too much yet, but there is plenty of room for it to grow.

Thank you Boie for listening and connecting the right people.

Thank you Alexander for opening the door.

And thank you @fabivn for capturing the journey from the van to the new space.

Sometimes one door closes while the building next to it is literally being torn down.

The next challenge was getting everything across Hamburg.

My furniture is colourful, heavy and definitely not designed for easy moving.

Somehow we managed to fit almost everything into a Miles van. Including three large pieces, a lot of foam and probably more optimism than actual space.

Thank you @milesmobility for making this move possible.

And thank you @hiiiilkee for carrying, pushing, organising and staying next to me through all the stress and uncertainty. ❤️

This move took a lot out of me. But seeing my work packed into that van also felt like things were finally moving forward.

Literally.

A few weeks ago, everything became a bit too real.

I was already looking for a new studio when the building directly next to my space on Holstenstraße was demolished.

Suddenly there was dust, noise, blocked access and heavy construction traffic right outside my door. Inside were my furniture, artworks and ongoing projects.

I needed to get everything out and somewhere safe.

Katrin from @studio_oeding gave me exactly that. A place to store my furniture while everything around my old studio was falling apart.

These photos show me picking up the last pieces from her space.

I came out of the whole situation bruised, but standing.

Thank you Katrin for making room when I really needed it. ❤️

Form follows FUN - final photos.

Collaboration with @neuendorf_arterior to create hand-crafted, playable sculptures for a Toy Fair in Hamburg. Had the best time working with such a fun team @annatiron @push_styrocuts

Throwback to the Matchmaking Session in the former Gruner + Jahr building.

A night full of energy, new perspectives and conversations about the future of Hamburg. I had the chance to present Urban Signals and meet inspiring people who are actively shaping our city.

And the first conversations are already turning into exciting projects. 👀

Thank you Julian Petrin, Jan Krimson and everyone involved.

@robertneuendorf Reimagines the Language of the City

‘Urban Signals’ is a collectible furniture series inspired by the unnoticed language of contemporary cities. The collection reinterprets elements of defensive architecture, traffic guidance and urban barriers, transforming systems designed to regulate movement and behaviour into functional objects that invite interaction instead.

Rather than seeing benches, bollards or safety barriers as purely technical infrastructure, the project examines them as cultural artefacts that silently shape how we navigate public space. By translating these visual codes into furniture, ‘Urban Signals’ questions the relationship between control and comfort, exclusion and invitation, function and sculpture.

The pieces are crafted from a combination of wood, stainless steel, and glass fibre-reinforced plastic (GRP), and finished in high-visibility industrial colours commonly associated with construction sites, warning systems, and public infrastructure. This familiar visual language is deliberately displaced into domestic and gallery contexts, encouraging viewers to reconsider the objects that quietly define everyday urban life.

The collection unconventionally premiered during Milan Design Week. Without an official exhibition invitation, the furniture was installed directly in the streets of Milan as a series of temporary interventions, bringing the work back into the urban environment from which it originated. The city itself became the exhibition space, completing the conceptual cycle of the project.

Stills of Urban Signals in their natural habitat.

A collection inspired by the codes, signals and invisible rules that shape the way we move through cities. Captured across Copenhagen during 3daysofdesign, where the pieces temporarily returned to the urban environments that inspired them.

I brought furniture.

The city brought conversations.

I’ve rarely experienced so much openness, curiosity and encouragement from complete strangers.

Thank you, Copenhagen.
