POSTS STORIES REELS

It’s finally out today: "In Real Life," an album of songs I composed about online dating, including a duet called "Extraordinary" about a first date in our modern world, with text by the always brilliant David Cote, and featuring some of my favorite musicians, including Marnie Breckenridge, Jorell Williams, the amazing American Modern Ensemble conducted by the great Steven Osgood, and produced by legendary producer Adam Abeshouse. This Sunday! I’m delighted that Albany Pro Musica will perform my setting of Emma Lazarus’s The New Colossus as part of A Lifted Lamp, a program exploring immigration, belonging, hope, and the many voices that have shaped America.

The concert also marks the beginning of my three-season residency as Albany Pro Musica’s Composer-in-Residence, and I’d love to see friends in the Capital Region there.

This Sunday, Apollo Duo performs my Three Goddesses on the Our Lady of Victory Concert Series in Columbus, Ohio. It’s especially meaningful to me because both Lindsey Goodman, flute, and Joseph Rebman, harp, have been wonderful faculty artists at Mostly Modern Festival.

Our Lady of Victory • 1559 Roxbury Road, Marble Cliff

On October 30, FAB5 comes to Saratoga Arts for a concert by candlelight—and a fall fundraiser for Mostly Modern Projects.

It should be a really fun evening: calming, restorative music, plenty of unusual colors, and then a Halloween stinger at the end with Thriller and Vincent Price’s iconic dialogue, performed by Spencer Sherry.

They’ll also perform my pieces Wound Up and Unwind for string quartet and handpan, along with music by Philip Glass, selections from Bridgerton, Björk, Prince, and more.

On October 7, Musica Sacra and Kent Tritle will perform two of my choral works—“Infinite Oceans” and “A Song on the End of the World”—at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The singers will move through the space beneath Luke Jerram’s illuminated Gaia. I’m especially eager to hear these pieces in that setting.

A little James Bond energy from my new Alto Saxophone Concerto, Cocktail Concerto.

This is a moment from the first movement, “Shaken, Not Stirred,” inspired by the classic 007 line—and by the cinematic excitement that comes with it.
