The Beatles’ REVOLVER was released to the world 60 years ago, today!

Back when I was 16, I bought this 60’s German pressing in Des Moines, Iowa while on a cross-country road trip with the fam. Fast forward almost ten years, in January of this year, I mailed this record back to Germany to see if I could get it signed by Klaus Voormann, who drew and designed the album cover. A month and a half later, and after a few emails back and forth with Klaus himself, my copy of Revolver arrived back signed by THE MAN.

Klaus is a long time friend of The Beatles, who met them very soon after their arrival to Hamburg, Germany in 1960. John had even offered him the position of playing bass in the band, not yet knowing that Paul had already bought his first Hofner bass the very same day. 6 years later, John phoned Klaus to see if he’d be willing to create the album cover for their next album. Klaus dropped by EMI studios (Abbey Road) to hear what they had got so far. The only song finished so far was Tomorrow Never Knows, and it was that song that inspired him to create what is far and away my favorite album cover ever. By design, Klaus was the first and only non-Beatle to appear on one of their album cover! (Until Sgt. Pepper, that is) Pretty cool, eh? 😎

Thanks again to @klausvoormannofficial for being such a kind pen pal and sending this back to me with such a sweet autograph! 🖤🤍🩶 happy 60 years of Revolver! #thebeatles #revolver by @robertsagers

“Asleep Alone” b/w “Shut Your Eyes And See (Mendips)” is out now!

Cover photo by @marcusmarinos
Mastered by Daniel Young @orchardstudioslc
Written and recorded at home by me

I never thought a song of mine would ever come to me so easily and effortlessly… let alone two! While playing my guitar super late at night, both songs might as well have fallen from the stars and passed right through me. I’m just glad I was awake to snatch them up and call them mine.

These songs are best listened to the way they were written and recorded; late at night with headphones on. Shut your eyes and see. “…I hope you get goosebumps.”

New Paul McCartney album just dropped tonight… new Ringo Starr album last month and now Ringo’s playing in my hometown this Monday! Other than 9/9/09, right now might just be the best time to be a Beatles fan in the 21st century, at least for me

Throwback to last July, when I played drums at The Cavern Club, then played the McCartney family piano at 20 Forthlin Road the very next day ✌️❤️ easily some of the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. #thebeatles taken in Liverpool, United Kingdom by @robertsagers
