Robert Standish began his painterly evolution as a hyper-realist, but he now creates abstractions.

It’s not easy to balance between two modes of practice (rather than commingle them). But Standish makes no distinction in importance or relevance between pictures and shapes: for him they equally manifest elegance and energy, sensuosity and starkness.

However much this may remain a controversial artistic position, Standish’s stylistic flair and virtuosity with materials revitalize the historical dynamic.

Standish × Sinatra × Pereira

Great to now be a part of the collection at Frank Sinatra’s former Chatsworth estate.

Designed by mid-century architect William Pereira, the compound was commissioned in 1949 by Chase Manhattan Bank heiress Dora Hutchinson and later leased by Frank Sinatra during the 1950s.

The mauve bench is original to the home—a front-row seat to decades of history.

Also honored—and a nice coincidence—to have my work in the permanent JPMorgan Chase Art Collection in New York, bringing the story full circle.

But Frank knew best—The Best Is Yet to Come.
