Rob Froese is a Saskatchewan Potter based in Canada and Japan. Rob holds a BA in Art and English from the University of Saskatchewan, a BFA in Ceramics from the University of Regina, and an MFA in Craft Media from the Alberta University of the Arts. His work is a conversation with the clay; working quickly and with skills honed over the years, he responds to the clay as it responds to him, whether it be serendipitous or anticipated.

Weekend workshops are brought to you by the Mount Pleasant Potters’ Guild, which provides funds for the events through their education program, and North Mount Pleasant Arts Centre, which provides the space and staff for the events.

Come on out for a relaxing time at this workshop open house/exhibition starting tomorrow April 12 and continuing 13,14,19&20 from 10-5. Built by Kazuma Nakano in 2006, this is pretty much a potter’s dream…a place to make, relax by the stream or stove with a coffee, work some more…because opportunity should find you working! It has always been a pleasure to stay here, and I hope in the future others can join me. Made it through the -30's just in time to return to Japan next week for a new take on my ceramic practice.
I was able to go to Japan last November after 10 years away thanks to funding from a Creative Saskatchewan Micro Marketing Grant, which helped me to hold an exhibition of my work, reconnect with galleries and customers, and arrange to return to a workshop I used from 2007-2015. Back to the green tea fields, hills, oceanside and some of my favourite clays.
