Training with slow eccentric (lowering) phases during weight training can offer several benefits:
	1.	Increased Time Under Tension: Slowing down the eccentric phase increases the amount of time your muscles are under tension, which is a key factor for muscle growth. This prolonged tension stimulates muscle fibers more effectively, promoting hypertrophy.
	2.	Improved Muscle Control and Technique: Focusing on a slower eccentric phase helps you develop better control over the movement, improving your overall technique and reducing the risk of injury.
	3.	Enhanced Muscle Strength: The eccentric phase is when muscles are lengthening under load, and research shows that muscles can handle more weight during eccentric movements than concentric (lifting) phases. By emphasizing eccentric training, you can build strength more efficiently, as it allows for greater overload.
	4.	Increased Muscle Damage: Slower eccentric movements can lead to more muscle microtears, which, when repaired, lead to greater muscle growth. This is why eccentric training is often associated with a high level of muscle soreness after workouts.
	5.	Improved Flexibility and Mobility: Eccentric training can also improve flexibility because the controlled, slower movement allows for a greater range of motion, stretching the muscle more effectively.
	6.	Prevention of Plateau: Adding slow eccentrics into your routine can break through training plateaus. By changing the tempo of the exercise, you’re introducing a new challenge for your muscles, which can stimulate further growth.

In summary, slow eccentric training enhances muscle growth, strength, and control while providing a different stimulus that can help you continue progressing in your training.

Need help with Squatting all explained here 👇

-The reason you plant yourself under the bar comfortably is it allows you to brace yourself and get use to that feeling of the weight and the bar on your back before lifting up the weight, so then no adjustments are needed either during the set or in preparation for the set.

-Focusing on breathing means you want to ensure you are Inhaling on the Eccentric part of the rep (way down) and then Exhaling on the Concentric part of the rep (the way up). This then allows you to exert as much energy as possible when pushing up the weight allowing you to have the most beneficial reps you can.

-Brace before the rep means that you should try to tense your core and pull your elbows down as close as your body as you can as this then gets you braced and ready for the rep and helps to keep your form solid and helps to keep you stable and balanced during the set.

-Lastly the reason I suggest to keep your head up and straight is that this will assist in keeping the technique good as it will help to keep your back nice and straight as well as keeping you balanced and stable during the set.
