As artists, we spend years creating work shaped by intuition, memory, loss, beauty, contradiction, and questions that resist language. Occasionally, a writer enters that space and recognizes what lies beneath the materials.

What moved me most was not simply the coverage, but the care with which the work was seen and understood.
My practice draws from relics, absence, ancestral memory, religious symbolism, the experiences of women, and the space where beauty and ruin coexist. To encounter a reading that engaged these themes so deeply was both meaningful and humbling.

My sincere thanks to Avalon Ashley Bellos @sequinedrebellion for her insight and generosity, and to everyone who has supported the work.

Exquisite Death In The Garden of Maximum Joy

This mixed-media sculpture by New York–based artist @robincofer is now part of the permanent collection of @yqmuseum . Composed of Qing dynasty textiles, silk hand-made flowers, an antique brass crucifix, leather headband, a 18th century food printing roller, and antique stickpins printed with a Qing dynasty stamp, the work is displayed atop three traditional Chinese chairs—one designed for a young lady, the others for men.

Installed within our newest 3,000-square-meter gallery at 合柴1978, the former prison transformed into our contemporary art space, the sculpture speaks a different language—raw, explosive, and resonant. Against the monumental architecture of confinement, Cofer’s sculpture radiates liberation: a celebration of womanhood, transformation, and the full flowering of the soul.

As guardians of history and Huizhou culture, our museum opens this dialogue between delicate historical fragments and vast industrial space, where past and present, fragility and power, converge in a single gesture of blossoming freedom.
