It might be hitting triple digits here in SoCal, but it’s still a perfect time to fill your cup. Black stoneware and leaf stamps with my favorite white glaze. Always looks so toasty on this dark clay body. #blackclaypottery by @robinhartpottery

The extreme hot weather has finally broken here in the SoCal desert and being outside feels glorious… day or night- even the critters feel it! On top of that I got my first hike in since my knees gave up over a year ago. Yeah- it’s a good day to be sure. #outinthedesert #coachellavalley #joshuatreenationalpark by @robinhartpottery

Sooo… I’ve built up a few books to “read next!” To be fair, I’ve started the bottom three, just taking a break before I come back to them. Tolkien- done, just waiting for my next book club meeting. Wordsworth. Sometimes a person just needs a good ballad. The rest are just waiting for me, quietly calling out each time I walk by, enticing me to sit for just a minute and step back into someone’s story. Oh and the one in top- my guilty pleasure when I just need a bit of an escape. How about you? What have you got on your reading lust these days? 🥰📗📖📚 #lovetoread📚 #pileofbooks #loverofwords by @robinhartpottery

The start of autumn’s just around the corner. While this season looks a little different here in the desert, than most places around the country there are always a few sure signs - such as bat and raven mugs, wheel thrown ceramic pumpkins (in process), pumpkin muffins and monsoonal clouds over the mountains. #fallisalmosthere #ceramicpumpkins #pumpkinmuffins🎃 #sgraffito by @robinhartpottery

It’s beyond hot, here in the SoCal desert. Got in my morning walk in before the sun was up, and the thermometer still read 96 degrees. Had to come home and put in a bit of time carving on this vase (and enjoying the AC before i started to feel human again. Ideas and inspiration never just pop into my head out of nowhere. An image, a color, a texture often began long before I had any thought of putting it on a pot. It started with looking, noticing, listening, wondering, looking again. When I was younger, I remember an adult in my life getting frustrated with me for how excited I got looking at the clouds- guess they’d had enough of my “Oh wow! Just look at that one!!! “ I remember feeling foolish, but somehow (thankfully) that never really went away. Today, I still see it in myself and feel so grateful. But it’s not just what I see around me, but in what I read, a story you may have told me, a song or 🤷‍♀️ . So if you ever ask me where my ideas for my work come from I’ll probably smile and shrug my shoulders because the full answer, well it takes a lot of time. #inspiration #stonewarepottery #lookaround by @robinhartpottery
