Hectic day yesterday. Always found Ed Sheeran to be a pleasant if vanilla character, but the past 24 hours have been chaotic to say the least. Baulking at the threats of billionaires, squirming on the subject of Palestinian solidarity and free speech, he’s handled the Macklemore issue unbelievably poorly, sparking the collapse of his entire Loop tour. With no support and no backing band it’s impossible to see how it can continue.

Metro invited me to write further on this pivotal issue - the commission came in at noon, the first draft was handed in for 3pm and live by five, as they used to (almost) say on Newsround. My debut for a big London paper! Not bad for a guy from the middle of nowhere in the Scottish Highlands eh. Thanks @rossmccaff for the commission and thoughtful edits!
