It’s my last week working for Ride UK BMX. 13 years deep. I’m feeling thankful and fortunate to have survived that long in the BMX industry! And extremely proud of what I achieved with the title, especially bringing print back in the last couple of years with the amazing support of @seventiesdistro. Ride to Glory 2013 with Vans. The most ludicrous trip I’ve ever been on!

I remember Vince Mayne calling me up and saying something like, “You’re coming on RTG with us, I don’t care if you’ve already agreed another team, cancel them and come with us, trust me.” So I did. Going to California was bending the RTG rules slightly, I think we got disqualified… but it was definitely worth it.

Some of my finest / funniest memories and favourite photos I’ve ever shot came from this trip.

Ride To Glory 2012 with Stay Strong. Very funny times with a pretty mad mix of riders! We ticked off enough challenges to win, which felt great and also landed me my first cover - of Adam Aloise and a poor squished frog, under a reservoir in the north of England.

One challenge was to get a fake tan. We didn’t have to ask Jordan twice.

Ride To Glory 2011, team Lotek. This was my first real trip for @rideukbmx and I remember it being pretty damn funny the whole way…

I shot pretty much everything on 120 film, while my guy Ben Green was on hand to film the video for the DVD that came with the mag. Different days!
Here are some other things I remember ➡️

@alex_donnachie blew everyone away every day.

On every obstacle he found.

Craig Passero made Ben Green work hard filming line after line. There were a couple of quick bangs like this whip gap at Meanwhile though.

We got both ditched and burned by Scott Ditchburn. He binned off the rest of the Lotek team to hang out with the DUB crew, then called us boring. Over pegs in north Wales.

Mike Miller was hilarious. This was the start of a good run of trips with Mike and I was always stoked to watch him blast something. This mountain boarding centre we broke into was perfect for him.

Cover Story - Seann @microwavebmx Thompson

Why this Cover?

“At the time this issue came out, I was at that age as a teenager when I was starting to travel further afield than my local skatepark, everything was new and exciting. I was living a half hour train ride from Cambridge at the time, and would head up there every weekend. Matt Priest was our local pro, all the kids our age looked up to him and we were just in awe whenever we got to witness him ride in person.

I remember this cover coming out alongside the web edit that this clip was in. For me, this cover always triggers a wonderful nostalgia of my teen riding years and the Cambridge scene at the time.”
