2024 – a year I spent more time with people I love, held a lamb in scotland, hugged my best friend’s baby for the first time, saw @a21 on @cnn and in times square, traveled to new places, celebrated my grandmother’s 90th birthday, hiked in machu picchu, ate great food, drank too much coffee, laughed, cried, and everything in between. feeling grateful 💛 by @robinseitz

as #walkforfreedom made its way around the world, hundreds of millions were reached with awareness of human trafficking over the last 24 hours. never not blown away by the significance of a weekend like this, or by the team who makes it happen. by @robinseitz

Something I’m continually reminded of is this: the work of justice is so much bigger than any one of us. It’s so much bigger than one person, one government, or one organization. And while @a21 has been on the frontlines of this fight for nearly 15 years (and we have seen tremendous progress made thus far), there is still so much work to be done. But I’ve never been more full of hope that human trafficking can, and will, come to an end.

Deeply grateful, and honored to get to work with some of the most creative, passionate, and gifted people all over the world—some of which are pictured above, all of which played a deeply significant role in the creation and distribution of this content. None more so than @neal.johnson who has poured more hours and heart into this project year after year than I can even begin to say. Let us never forget, that the work of justice starts with us. Earlier this year, I was able to see first-hand the work our @a21 team is doing on the ground in Poland and Ukraine to educate refugees on the dangers of #humantrafficking, train frontline professionals on how to identify and report suspicions, and support survivors during this difficult time. In my short time there, I heard stories and witnessed the absolute best, and worst, of humanity. There are so many incredible people (our team included) who are sacrificing so much to see the people of Ukraine protected.

But the other reality is that refugees are some of the most vulnerable to human trafficking. And traffickers know this, and they intentionally exploit those vulnerabilities—whether it be the need for a job, a safe place to stay, or a way to provide for their families.

It’s heart-breaking, but it’s happening. We’ve seen it over and over again. But we’ve also seen how prevention can stop trafficking before it starts, how a hotline can be a line out for a victim, and how despite having experienced the most horrific trauma—restoration, hope and freedom are still possible.

I am constantly in awe of the resilience, passion, and hard work that our @a21ua team is investing to see refugees protected, and survivors supported. The culmination of 6 months of planning, dreaming, writing, editing, coordinating, and filming…is going out into the world next week on the @unitednations ‘World Day Against Trafficking in Persons’. And you can register to tune in through the link in my bio.

To try and capture the message of this broadcast in a few words…it’s this: it’s part of the human experience that our lives and stories are inexplicably and undeniably connected. And change will always require something of us–but it may be simpler than you think: it could be your decision to act, to make a call, to raise awareness in your city, or have a conversation that could shift the trajectory of another person’s life. The world needs us now more than ever to be a people who are united together–driven by the idea that action is the only way the world has ever, and will ever change. Because together, we truly believe we will see slavery abolished.

I had the privilege of working with some of the most talented storytellers, filmmakers, writers, and speakers, along with our amazing @a21 team to make this happen…none of which would have been possible without the long hours, late nights, and remarkable work of @neal.johnson.
