ᴀʀᴛɪsᴛ ᴀɴɴᴏᴜɴᴄᴇᴍᴇɴᴛ 14ᴛʜ Aᴜɢᴜsᴛ @ormsideprojects

Introducing one of our own ✨Lovelace is a DJ and visual artist who co-founded Collective Hysteria back in 2022.

As a DJ, she has made appearances in clubs and festivals across the UK, as a resident and co-organiser of Oxford’s FLINTA* collective Soul Plaza, alongside recent appearances at Queen’s Yard Summer Party and Om Being.

As a visual artist, she has recently expanded her practice, becoming the resident designer for Collective Hysteria. Informed by her work as a laser physicist she is inspired by the iterative processes of experimentation and the mathematical theory of wave structures.

Despite her affinity with harder, more driving sounds, a growing meditative practice has recently turned her towards softness. For this event she will open the party with a journey through ambient and downtempo, providing attendees with a gentle landing pad to arrive in the space. by @robintimmis

Ｔｏｗａｒｄｓｔｈｅｑｕａｎｔｕｍｖａｃｕｕｍ

A laser is focused onto a plasma target and reflected. The intense electromagnetic fields of the laser induce light speed oscillations in the reflective plasma surface while the light pressure also dents the surface inwards (at pressures close to that at the centre of the sun). These modifications to the mirror surface spatiotemporally compress the reflected light into a coherent harmonic focus. This mechanism has the potential to boost the light intensity by many orders of magnitude. With these intensity gains we may start to interact directly with the vacuum, allowing us to test fundamental theories about the fabric of the universe.

So we’re coming back to our London roots for summer. We’ve been inspired by our travels through the queer and psychedelic scenes in Europe and beyond, and dreaming about our community here at the intersection of these worlds.

Join us for a night of music from some of our favourite FLINTA* artists in London right now, a trip through deep and psychedelic sounds, channeling the wild energy of surreal natural landscapes into the heart of the city. These sonic delights will be accompanied by immersive visuals from an artist we are looking forward to working with for the first time.
