I’m grateful to volunteer with @timeforchangefoundation , an organization doing incredible work to support women rebuilding their lives after incarceration.

One of the many ways they’re showing up for the community is through San Bernardino’s largest FREE Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway, helping students head into the new school year prepared and confident. 🎒❤️

I also want to use this opportunity to share that if you know a formerly incarcerated woman in San Bernardino County, please let her know about the programs available through Time for Change Foundation. From employment support and housing assistance to case management, mental health services, legal support, family reunification, and rental assistance for eligible participants, the organization is committed to helping women build lasting stability and opportunity.

Sometimes the greatest act of community is simply connecting someone to resources that can change the course of their life in San Bernardino.

Please share this post or tag someone who may know a woman who could benefit. Together, we can help more women find hope, stability, and a fresh start.

Five years ago, I never could have imagined what freedom would come to mean.

At first, I thought freedom was about circumstances. Today, I know it’s so much more than that.

Freedom is waking up with peace in my mind.
Freedom is making decisions from purpose instead of fear.
Freedom is trusting myself.
Freedom is creating opportunities—not only for myself, but for others.

This week, I returned from Italy where I had the privilege of speaking about something I believe deeply: that real change happens when we invite community to be active participants in healing, stability, and belonging, and when we recognize that people with lived experience aren’t just part of the conversation—they help lead it.

What made this trip even more meaningful was sharing it with my children. Watching them experience a world I once never imagined I’d see myself was a reminder that freedom doesn’t stop with us. It expands. It becomes legacy.

Five years later, I’m grateful—not because the journey has been easy, but because it has been worth it. Every challenge, every lesson, every leap of faith has shaped a life that once felt impossible.

Here’s to freedom of mind.
Freedom to choose.
Freedom to dream.
And most importantly, the freedom to help open doors so others can experience it too.

The work continues, but today, I celebrate how far I’ve come. by @robledomelanie11

Alongside her is Melanie, her best friend and a powerful housing and justice leader, creating programs at the intersection of homelessness and reentry—because safe, stable housing isn’t a privilege, it’s the foundation for rebuilding lives.
