Thank you to @modellatura_art for this beautiful sketch from Poland! One of the beautiful benefits of knowing urban sketchers @usktoronto is you never know from where they will say “hello!” Thank you Isabel for such a thoughtful greeting from a far off land!!

Saturday, we got to attend the first Bills Game in the new Highmark Stadium against Carolina. So naturally, I had to capture the moment and possibly create the first sketch in Highmark Stadium of Highmark Stadium. An incredible day with one of my boys. It was his first NFL game ever. Absolutely fantastic experience.

The National Cathedral in Washington DC is one of my favorite places to explore. The meticulous stonework, spatial interplay and liturgical lacings of message and meaning shape one of the most inspiring spaces in the city.
Here are some investigations into a typical side chapel, the Narthex sequence and St. Joseph’s Chapel that rests directly underneath the crossing above.

Quick sketch @usnatarchives this past week. Fun fact : when I worked @hartmancoxarchitects, we did the renovation, now almost 30 years ago. Still one of my favorite projects I’ve ever had the privilege to work on.

We round out the America 250 weekend celebration with the third in the American Monuments Triptych series with the United States Capitol Building. Hand drafted and rendered, this panel explores the idea of true transparency in the government with glass facades and dome replacing the columnar and opaque marble of the original composition. Seeing into the hallowed chambers and bringing light into the workings of our representatives, the Capitol also book ends the national Mall opposite the Lincoln Memorial with its own Beacon of freedom and transparency. A limited number of signed gicleé prints are available on my site (see bio). Hope everyone had an amazing Fourth of July! God bless you and God bless America!

Happy America 250 and the Fourth of July! The second in the Monuments Triptych, the Statue of Liberty welcomes those who believe in freedom, liberty and hope. Her copper cloak has been transformed to a faceted glass skin where the light of her presence is no longer limited to her torch but her whole presence. The glass also reveals the structure of our nation, within. Why do we share our freedoms? How have they endured for 250 years? Because of our Constitution. As one ascends the structure, each main level is dedicated to one of the seven articles of the Constitution. A limited number of signed, gicleé prints are available in my shop (see bio). Happy Fourth of July!

Celebrating America 250, I have updated my monuments drawings to reflect this historic moment. The Lincoln Memorial is re-imagined not as a tomb, but a beacon drawing light into the newly open under croft while transforming the subterranean space into a Founder’s Statuary Hall. The Statue of Liberty will be released tomorrow and The Capitol building on Sunday. Each are limited to 25 signed gicleé prints with archival ink on acid free paper. The link to the shop is in my bio. Happy 4th of July and America’s 250!
