the series of blur designed by @romvsaarchvvm starts in blur; soft, unresolved and focusing on mood and feeling than detail. moving forward, things gradually start to focus, shifting from uncertainty and movement into something with more clarity. at the end, everything is sharp and bold, losing the resistance of being seen. the collection follows a quiet progression, moving from transition and vulnerability towards clarity, confidence and presence.

swagapinos

a term trending around 2008-2014 emerging as a cultural renaissance with the hybrid of swag (something we asians got) and filipinos. the trend grew popular on platforms such as tumblr, facebook and instagram around 2010. the swagapino look is portrayed by highly accessorised clothing such as snapbacks and glasses, with clothing ranging from baggy streetwear such as vintage nba jerseys and graphic tees, to button up shirts and skinny jeans from the late 2000s with heavy photo editing. mixing both local filipino references and western influences, being swagapino was an act of cultural reclamation. growing up adjusting to differences in cultural environments in the western world, young filipinos were faced with problems of identity and belonging, resulting in the resurgence of authenticity, fluidity and empowerment. being swagapino was not just a passing trend; it represented a cultural shift in western society. swagapinos are reforming what it’s like to be young, filipino and fashionable in a fast paced and globalised world. filipino pride isn’t quiet and soft; it’s expressive, loud and full of swag.
