These are a random assortment of stills, outtakes and behind the scenes pics from Laos, all gathered by @frances_rankin_ while I was trying to remember how to say sentences at the same time as looking in the right direction. It was a huge challenge shooting this film while undercover as tourists and there was a constant anxiety that we would end up in prison, which has happened to foreign journalists in the past, despite all the precautions we were taking. Some of the pictures here were taken as cover, in case we had our phones seized by the authorities, but among the sleepless nights there were moments of fun (and perhaps madness). Fran did all the work setting up, planning and shooting the entire thing, it's very much her film that I got to play a part of. So please follow her, it's not like she's Emmy nominated or anything... by @robynvinter

Evidence of a growing illegal wildlife trade has been showing up in videos on social media with tourists in Laos holding bear paws, buying ivory and even eating pangolin.

But it’s not just online. More pangolins than ever before are being found roaming the streets of major cities after escaping from shops and restaurants.

We went to Laos to investigate what’s going on and found out how budget tour groups are taking Chinese tourists to illegal wildlife shops and pressuring them into buying these endangered species.
