POSTS STORIES REELS

So honored that Rocco Designs won Phoenix Magazine’s Best of The Valley for the best Third Space (The Royale) **see 3rd space explanation below** !

Thank you @phxmagazine for this amazing Editor’s choice award and for the article that perfectly encapsulates what The Royale is about!

It’s wonderful to know that the design, programming, and the community aspect of The Royale is being seen, felt, appreciated and acknowledged ❤️….

A “third space” refers to a location outside of one’s home (first place) and work (second place) where individuals can regularly gather, interact, and build community.

It’s rare to get an award for one of your architectural / design / development projects and I am truly grateful for this.

Thank you @phxmagazine for this editors choice award and for really seeing the design intent.

This award is special to be because it encapsulates exactly what The Royale was created to do and I couldn’t have said it better that Phx Mag did:

“ In an era when doomscrolling on TikTok is starting to replace talking over coffee, true gathering spaces are becoming more elusive. Enter The Royale: a cluster of 1940s-era buildings at the southwest corner of Glenrosa Avenue and Sixth Drive that has recently been reimagined as a stylish, adaptive reuse project by Rocco Menaguale and Mark Howard (formerly of FEZ and Bliss ReBAR). Their goal? To honor the midcentury roots of the Melrose District while channeling the golden glow of 1980s Miami Beach and vintage Las Vegas. The result is a vibrant hub that now houses seven queer-owned businesses, including Cult Hair Salon & Spa, Window Coffee Bar, Stem Swag Design Lab and The Royale Kitchen + Cocktails. A mix of indoor and outdoor spaces sets the stage for drag brunches, comedy shows, floral workshops, storytelling nights and more.”
