⚡️MIGRAINE RANT⚡️

I’ve suffered from chronically severe migraines since I was a teenager. And when I say migraine, I don’t mean a bad headache. I mean a neurological condition that has completely taken me out at times. I’ve missed so many moments I wish I could get back.

Thankfully, I have an amazing neurologist and medications that help me manage them most of the time. But every so often, one comes back with a vengeance. It’s almost always on the absolute worst day, because apparently migraines have impeccable timing. 🙃

The hardest part isn’t the pain. It’s the fear. Some of my migraines come with symptoms that mimic a stroke, and the anxiety of wondering, Is this a migraine, or am I actually in trouble? is completely consuming.

I had one of those on Thursday, the first day of school. I was completely down and out, and days later, I’m still recovering.

It sucks. But it also makes me incredibly grateful for modern medicine, my doctor, and the good days I get because of them.

Because this picture is what it’s all about. Being here. Being present. Being with the people I love, and making the good days count.

Since we reminisced yesterday on the 10 year anniversary of Dakota’s announcement, I need to make Bowie’s announcement Instagram permanent too! This was another amazing day with our insanely talented best friend @heckmanpictureco this time in our forever home of Wanamassa. It was so extra of us to make these videos but they are so special and I’m so happy we have them. Look how little Dakota was! Now I feel like we need another big life event to make a video with Bowie actually in it.🤔 No more babies though!!! #BowieXavier by @rockandrosettes

10 years ago today mike and I shared this amazing video we filmed with @heckmanpictureco to announce that we were expecting Dakota! We only ever got to share a link to it on Facebook because at the time long form videos weren’t allowed on Instagram. So to celebrate 10 years (how is that even possible) of Dakota here it is! Making this in our first Brooklyn apartment, and part in @yourbuddymeg and @roachgasm apartment because it was bigger than ours, brings back the best memories. I think it’s safe to say, Dakota did get the best of both worlds. ❤️ #DakotaThomas by @rockandrosettes

EVERYONE WATCHES WOMEN’S SPORTS! ⚽️

Today we got to cheer on some of our favorite high school athletes, Lily V. Kaitlynn and then Quinn V. Abby, in a Trinity Hall vs. Ocean Twp. showdown.

These boys are so lucky to have absolute badasses as role models, showing them what hard work looks like and the payoff that comes with it.

I will also never turn down an opportunity to make a sign and potentially embarrass the people I love so they never doubt that they have people out here cheering them on! Loud and proud 🗣️

This weekend we started fall ball and Bowie quite literally (almost) knocked it out of the park with a bomb to left center off the 1st kid pitch of the inning getting a triple and earning him the game ball! I am so proud of this little chaos monster. Yesterday Dakota had his 4th drum recital with @shoremusicacademy where he played @lessthanjake All My Best Friends Are Metalheads. Mike and I are not only proud of his great drumming but also his great taste in music! 🤘🏼🎶🥁 by @rockandrosettes

On a snowy night in 2023 Mike and I were fortunate enough to see Glen Hansard at @transparentclinchgallery with less than 100 people in the room.It was a night I will always treasure. Mike and I chose “In these arms” as one of our wedding songs (shout out @triangletrev for performing it live for us) and it’s also (thanks to shuffle) the song Bowie was brought into this world to. Falling slowly will always remind me of singing along with @sarah_elai and @heckmanpictureco while Bubba plays guitar, usually at the end of a great night of drinks and laughs. Hearing the raw power and emotion of his voice in person was such a powerful experience, one I will never forget. Tonight in the Fennen house we will be dancing in the kitchen and singing loudly as we mourn an incredible musician who is so much a part of our family’s story. For Christmas, Mema & Pop Reilly got the boys tickets to Mets vs. Dodgers at Citi Field. Finally, yesterday was the day, we took the ferry and had the best day. The look on Bowie’s face as he watched the apple pop up with a Mets homer and Dakota’s heckling of the umpire with each Dodgers “bad call” is what we will remember forever! #ExperiencesOverStuff #BaseballFamily #ThanksForTheMemories by @rockandrosettes

Trigger Warning - Dakota graduated from elementary school today so I took a trip down memory lane with all his firsts and lasts and now I can’t stop crying. 😭

My baby is an Elementary School Graduate! It’s so cliche but this truly is the longest shortest time. I have loved every second and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for my boy made of magic ✨
