Finally made it to @lydford.gorge.nt & the Devil's Cauldron (with E) on Saturday, which has been on our 'visit' list since moving here. A really lovely place, with lots if sights of odd fungi and lichen/moss covering almost every surface, and got to help make apple juice there too.
As a bonus called in to see 2 castles first, and as an extra bonus they were doing bacon butties in the village hall. Those were served on bespoke village hall crockery!

Castle adventure with the kids - Okehampton Castle @englishheritage . Currently free (although we're now members again anyway), although this means no toilets now.
Quite an impressive castle, and big climb up the steps to the Keep.

The Middlesbrough connection in my Espana 82 album.
Firstly Terry Cochrane & Jim Platt, who both were playing for the Boro at the time. It was only a few years ago I found out that Cochrane never went to World Cup as he was injured. Jim Platt did though, and played in the 2-2 draw v Austria when Pat Jennings was injured.
Robson and Strachan both went on to manage Boro.
Going through my album I stopped when I saw Felix Magath in the West Germany team, who I'd had no reason to notice before. Rumour was that he was considered as replacement for Steve McClaren, but turned us down.

The home nations pages from my Espana 82 sticker album.
England were undefeated but sadly got knocked out before the semis.
I think Gordon Strachan was one of my favourite footballers due to getting him first from the Scottish team! Looking up the squads it seems although I had Andy Gray he never actually made the squad at the World Cup.
New Zealand also included as a reminder that smaller nations sometimes had 2 players on a sticker, making the whole album (and he tournament!) more manageable than the current one.

Found my 1982 World Cup sticker album, which got me into football.
Also introduced me to the idea that countries had different names, which led to conundrums when filling in the latter stages in the album - do I put Spain or Espana?

Saying goodbye to my Mum and celebrating her life today.
Lots to include in writing the eulogy, but hard to get across in words how much she meant to us, what an amazing Mum she was and all she did for us, and that so much I've achieved wouldn't have been done without her.
Although S & E knew her over the past 5 years, there's some sadness that they never got to know her before dementia and do lots of things I know Mum would have loved to do with them. But we still have lovely memories of S & E singing with Grandma.
We're pleased she's at peace now and she knew where she was going. by @rockbadger74

Proud Dad moment when my daughter got her local history and archaeology badges in Brownies. Although my influence is not fully rubbing off as she is not keen on visiting a castle with me next week...
She also got her Gold Award but the other badges are the key ones! by @rockbadger74

Day off yesterday with Becky for her birthday. Trip to a National Trust site, complete with cream tea. Drizzly and breezy but loads of flowers - primroses, daffodils, magnolia and more, though photos don't do them justice. Nice to get out! taken in Greenway National Trust, Agatha Christie Summerhouse and Garden by @rockbadger74
