A moment of peace, because all houndies deserve to feel safe and loved, but this is unfortunately not the case 💔 so many of my brothers and sisters face unspeakablely cruel conditions and are forced into a life of misery and abuse. Even those of us who ‘escape’ still struggle with engrained trauma and live with these traumas for the rest of our lives…

This is my story ❤️

I was rescued by @galgosdelsol in June of 2024 (did you know they rehomed almost 500 dogs last year?🤗). They found me and some friends living on the streets of Spain in extreme heat (I’m the one laying in the dirt pile with all those flies 😔)- thank you Tina! I spent just a few months with the lovely GDS family in the shelter before my hoomans saw my story and adopted me that September! Trine and Louise from Galgos SOS flew all the way to Spain just to bring me home 🥰. Not much is known about my first 5 years but I prefer to be a mysterious guy 😏

Now I live in Denmark where its cold and rainy but that means I have lots of nice outfits 🤪. My hoomans are so obsessed with me and love me more than anything else! I have slowly been growing more confident but I can still be quite scared from unknown trauma 😔. I am really loving life now and only hope that 2025 brings all galgos to homes like mine 🥰

🥳🥳 TODAY’S THE DAY 🥹 after two weeks, Rocket finally got his stitches out and cone off! He got the full clear from the vets and is now sporting some very impressive battle scars (one matching @caesarthegreyhound 🤭)

What a trooper he has been, truly the best boy! He has a leg warmer on to avoid licking (thank you @blasandco.studio for the tip!) Hopefully no more trips to the vet for a longggg while but we are so incredibly grateful to the wonderful vet staff at Anicura dyrehospitalet ❤️

These last two weeks have been overwhelming and stressful for us all, but we are so lucky to have a wonderful community here in Denmark, and on this little corner of Instagram 🖤✨ Rocket sends his love to you all xx 😘 by @rocketthegalgo

Dreaming (rather scary-like 🤭) about zooming 💨 less than 3 days until all the stitches come out and we can say bye to the cone!

What a week 🥲 what we thought was a blood blister from the cone was actually an infection from an unseen puncture wound from his accident on Sunday. Emergency surgery round 2 on Thursday to insert a drainage tube.

Despite it all, rocket has been the bravest, best boy out there, wagging his tail and being his goofy self. I won’t lie, it has been extremely difficult as he adjusts to this. Taking turns to sleep on the couch with him, adjusting work schedules so he is never alone, cooking food for him each meal, the cleaning of his wounds… but we would do absolutely anything and everything for him 🖤 I wish I could take away his pain…

The good news is he will make a full recovery ❤️‍🩹 and his quality of life is not impacted in any way. We have a long few weeks ahead of us, but rocket is teaching us how to be strong 💪🏼 the cone is now padded with sanitary pads, but we are thankful that wasn’t the problem in the first place, and that rocket doesn’t seem to mind it all that much (hopefully allowing for a speedier recovery!)

It was not rocket’s weekend 🥲 our baby boy is on strict bed rest after an unlucky run in with a wooden pole at the dog park. Stitches on both his face and front right leg ❤️‍🩹

We are very grateful that nothing worse happened, and that the vet care at @anicura_dyrehospitaler was absolutely incredible.

Luckily he is still his goofy self, eating plenty of chicken and rice (but not the broccoli 😅), trying to hunt for cats, and demanding snuggles. He is of course getting extra special king treatment with treats, cuddles, and everything he could wish for ✨ thank you everyone for the well wishes 🥹 it really warms our hearts knowing so many people care about our baby! by @rocketthegalgo
