MORE THAN A KENNEL // Rockin’ B Gundogs started pretty simple — a place to train gundogs and raise a few Labrador litters each year. From the beginning, we built this company around one idea: small is better. Fewer dogs means more time, more attention, and more hands-on work with every dog that comes through our program.
.
But somewhere along the way, Rockin’ B became a whole lot more than a training kennel. Today, we’re raising Labrador puppies, training gundogs, helping owners learn how to train their own dogs, chasing birds across the country, and building a community of hunters who simply love being outside with a good dog. And that last part is what means the most to us. When you get a dog from Rockin’ B, you aren’t just picking up a puppy and heading home. You’re joining our pack.
.
We want to be there when you bring that puppy home, when you start obedience, when you make that first retrieve, when you take them hunting for the first time, and years down the road when that dog is still sitting beside you in the blind.
.
We’re building Rockin’ B for people who want the same things we do: Good dogs. Hard hunts. Time outdoors. And a community of like-minded people who’d rather be chasing birds than doing just about anything else.
We aren’t trying to build the biggest kennel.

CAT’S OUT OF THE BAG // Well, we’ve been keeping something under wraps for a little while, but we’re pretty darn excited to finally introduce our second business, @crossroad_k9!
.
After years of breeding and training British Labradors almost exclusively for hunters, we started getting approached about the possibility of putting our dogs to work in the scent detection world. From private security to public safety, we quickly realized there was an opportunity to take the dogs we love and put them to work in a whole different field.
.
We’re starting small, just like we did with Rockin’ B. Our goal is to place two puppies into detection work this year and hopefully six dogs next year. We’ve never been interested in being the biggest kennel around, and that philosophy won’t change with this venture either. Good dogs, good people, and doing things the right way will always come first. Plus, having our dogs make a difference for public servants keeping people safe is pretty darn cool.
.
One thing we’ve learned along the way is that the people you surround yourself with make all the difference. We’ve been fortunate enough to meet some pretty incredible folks who believe in what we’re building and have gone out of their way to help us get this thing off the ground. We’re beyond thankful for those relationships, and honestly, that’s one of the most exciting parts of this whole adventure.
.
Rockin’ B Gundogs isn’t going anywhere. We’ll still be doing what we love, training dogs, chasing birds, and spending time with the people who have made this little community so special.
.
We’ve got some exciting conversations happening behind the scenes, and we’re looking forward to seeing where this road takes us.
.
If you’re so inclined, give @crossroad_k9 a follow and come along for the ride. We’re just getting started!

The most wonderful time of the year.
•
Eleanor bringing back number 5 on this morning. Good dog. Good ducks. Good friend. Good talks. We’re back.
•
The opening split of duck season is by far my least favorite to hunt. Mostly woodies. Usually not ideal weather. It’s long enough to have fun but too short to get into it. Give me the late season freezing temps and snow all day. BUT the colors this time of year are amazing. Feels good to be back, even if it’s only for a short time.

We’re pretty selective about the dogs we train and the folks we bring into our little community. With most of our clients coming back year after year, we don’t add many new faces to the pack, but the ones we do tend to become great friends.
.
Since starting Rockin’ B Gundog’s, we’ve been fortunate to meet some of the kindest, most genuine people around. We take a lot of pride in the fact that we’ve built a community of good dogs and amazing people.
.
That brings us to Joe & Alysha.
.
These two bought a pup from our very first litter, and little did they know it would turn into a full-blown addiction to training dogs and chasing birds. Over the past few years, we’ve watched them grow into some darn good dog handlers and even better hunting buddies.
.
Today, they own two dogs out of Blazing Sammy, and thanks to all the hard work they’ve put into those pups, we’re excited to welcome both dogs into our breeding program.
.
This picture was taken on September opener two years ago. Joe & Alysha had found the birds, invited a few of us along, and put together one heck of a hunt. The best part was watching their young dog Huck pick up his first few geese on one of their first big hunts.
.
Pretty special watching two people go from buying their first gundog to scouting birds, putting together hunts, and handling dogs of their own.
.
At the end of the day, that’s what this whole thing is about. Good dogs, good people, and friendships that last a whole lot longer than a morning in the goose blind.
.
Nothing better than a Rockin’ B pup and the people they bring into your life.

MEET THE PACK // THE PEOPLE BEHIND ROCKIN’ B
.
It’s taken us two years to put together this crew, and boy, are we fortunate to have crossed paths with each of them.
.
At Rockin’ B Gundogs, we believe the people behind the dogs are just as important as the dogs themselves. We surround ourselves with hardworking, trustworthy, and genuinely good people who share our passion for what we’re building.
.
BEN BAKER // FOUNDER & LEAD TRAINER
Raised on a small farm in Pennsylvania, Ben eventually moved to Texas, where he began learning his craft at one of the largest British Labrador kennels in the country. Today, he leads Rockin’ B and spends every chance he gets chasing geese with his yellow Labrador, Daisy.
.
TOMMY MAGAZENO // KENNEL OPERATIONS
A New Jersey native who grew up loving action sports before finding his passion for waterfowl hunting. Today, Tommy and his Labrador, Bruce, are a huge part of our daily operations. If you’ve met Tommy, chances are you left with a smile and a new friend.
.
KAILA BALLOW // PUPPY DEVELOPMENT
With years of experience raising future guide dogs through The Seeing Eye, Kayla oversees our litters and helps give every Rockin’ B puppy the best possible start. She’s also the proud owner of Rockin’ B Rayne, and the two are beginning their hunting adventures together.
.
ALEX DURINO // PHOTOGRAPHY & MEDIA
Alex has been here since day one. A lifelong friend of Ben’s, family man, and passionate outdoorsman, Alex is the talent behind most of the photos and videos you see on our page. He’s also the proud owner of a Rockin’ B pup.
.
GOOD DOGS. BETTER PEOPLE.
.
Our goal was never to build the biggest kennel. It was to build something special with people we genuinely enjoy being around. We have tons of amazing volunteers, but this is the day to day squad as we keep on keeping on.
.
We’re proud of this little crew and thankful for everyone who’s become part of the Rockin’ B community.

The Rockin’ B Standard // Rockin’ B Gundogs is a small, purpose-driven sporting kennel and community rooted in the great Garden State of New Jersey.
.
We believe in doing things a little differently. Our focus has never been on becoming the biggest kennel, producing the most puppies, or having the most dogs in training. Instead, we’re building something much more personal. A close-knit, private sporting community made up of good people, great dogs, and a shared love for the outdoors.
.
We work exclusively with British Labradors in our gundog program, following traditional British gundog training philosophies with roots dating back to the 1800s. Our approach is built around patience, steadiness, natural ability, and developing a dog that’s just as enjoyable in the home as it is in the duck blind.
.
Our breeding program is no different. With a maximum of three carefully planned litters each year, every pairing has a purpose. We place tremendous importance on health, temperament, proven hunting ability, and producing well-rounded companions that fit the families and sportsmen they go home with.
.
At Rockin’ B, exclusivity isn’t about status. It’s about standards. We won’t just work with anyone or sell a dog to anybody. We want to know our dogs, know our owners, and build relationships that last long after a puppy heads home or a dog finishes training. We want to hunt together, share stories, help one another become better handlers, and enjoy everything that comes with owning a good sporting dog.
.
We have no desire to be everything to everybody, and we’re perfectly content with that.
.
At the end of the day, success to us isn’t measured by the number of dogs we produce or the size of our business. It’s measured by the quality of our dogs, the people who stand behind them, and how much fun we’re having along the way.
.
That’s the Rockin’ B Standard.
.

Nothing quite like a Rockin’ B pup!
.
Early mornings. Cold blinds. Birds falling. Tails wagging. And a dog that wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but with you.
.
There’s something special about a dog that can hunt its heart out all morning and curl up at your feet that evening.
.
Good minds. Quiet. Kind souls. Plenty of drive. And a whole lot of heart.
.
That’s the kind of dog we believe in. That’s the kind of dog we produce.
.
That’s a Rockin’ B dog.

ONE MORE SLEEP // Opening day is TOMORROW! We’ve got Rockin’ B dogs scattered all over New Jersey getting ready for what will hopefully be one heck of a morning. Good luck to everyone heading out! If you’re hunting over a Rockin’ B dog or one that’s come through our program, send us some pictures. We love seeing these dogs doing what they were bred to do.
.
I think just about everyone who gets into waterfowl hunting goes through a phase where they want to learn how to be the camera guy. I sure did. These are a few shots from one heck of a morning I took down south chasing early teal with some good Texas buddies.
.
We pulled into the fields well before daylight, only to find another group setting up a little too close to where we had planned to hunt. Rather than getting worked up, one of the guys walked over, broke the ice, and tried to figure out how we could all make it work. The lead man knew from scouting that the birds were there, so we made a few adjustments and set up pretty darn close to where we originally wanted to be.
.
As the sun started coming up, so did the teal. Flight after flight came pouring off the roost, buzzing across those fields, and before I knew it, we were in the middle of one of the first real barn burners I had ever been on.
.
My buddies had put us right on the X that morning, and boy was it something to see. Birds working, guns going off, dogs making retrieves, and plenty of laughs in between. Before long, limits were met and it was time to pack everything up.
.
Looking back, I’ll never forget the guys who first got me into waterfowl hunting and helped turn it into such a big part of my life.
.
If you’ve never headed south for early teal, put it on your list. There’s something pretty special about watching those little rockets come screaming across a field at first light.
.
Here’s to another season of good dogs, good friends, and mornings worth remembering.
.
Good luck tomorrow, everyone. Shoot straight and enjoy every minute of it!
