Owning a backyard you can only partly enjoy is frustrating. You see the space beyond the pool, but a change in elevation can make it feel disconnected from the rest of your outdoor living area.

This retaining wall helped give the homeowner part of their property back. The finished yard pairs a textured block wall with an elevated green area, creating a defined edge above the pool deck. The separate levels give the pool and landscaping their own space while keeping the backyard visually connected.

The wall brings structure to the layout without taking attention away from the greenery. Palm trees and planted accents soften the space above it, while the clean lines below frame the poolside area.

That’s what a thoughtful transformation should do: make more of your property feel like part of your home, not just something you look at from a distance.

Turf or pavers? Most homeowners get stuck on that question for months, and the yard stays exactly as it is while they decide.

Maybe it's a dusty side yard nobody walks through. Maybe it's a backyard with patchy grass that turns to mud after watering, or a patio too small to fit a table. Picking one material and hoping it fixes everything is how people end up redoing the job later.

The better question is what each part of your yard is actually for.

Where the kids run and the dog plays, artificial turf gives you soft ground that stays green and clean year-round, with no mowing and no mud tracked inside.

Where you set up furniture, entertain, and need dry footing, pavers give you a solid, built-to-last surface for the spaces you really use.

The best yards use both. Turf where you play, pavers where you gather, designed together so the whole space works.

Save this for when you start planning your backyard.

Ever had turf installed that looked great for a month, then started lumping, sinking, or pulling apart at the seams?

That almost never comes down to the turf itself. It comes down to everything underneath it.

Most of what makes a turf installation great, you'll never see. Before a single roll goes down, our crew is out in the dirt clearing the old yard, grading the ground, and building a base that stays flat and drains properly. It is slow, dusty, physical work, and it is exactly the step that gets rushed when a job is priced too cheap.

When that foundation is done right, the finished yard stays smooth, even, and clean for years instead of months. No soft spots, no puddles, no ripples after the first hot summer. Just a low-maintenance backyard you can actually use.

That is what you are really paying for: the work nobody sees, done like everybody is watching.

Sometimes the only way forward is to tear it all out.

This backyard had a slab of old concrete that was cracked, shifting, and splitting into sections. Gravel had filled the gaps, weeds were pushing through, and nobody wanted to spend time out there. Patching it would only have covered the problem for another season.

So we broke it up. Every piece was hauled out by wheelbarrow and loaded into the dumpster until the yard was down to bare ground. Then the rebuild started: a properly prepared base, pavers laid one by one in a clean herringbone pattern, and artificial turf stretched and secured to finish it off.

The result is a backyard that is level, durable, and green all year, with a patio built to hold up and turf that never needs mowing or watering. The space that used to get ignored is now the best part of the house.

If your yard needs a fresh start, the demolition is the easy part. We handle the rest.

⛳🌿 That CLOSE-UP says everything.

There’s something so satisfying about a putting green when every detail comes together just right — and this one is looking seriously sharp. 😮‍💨👌

From that crisp opening shot to the full finished space, you can see the precision that goes into creating a custom green that looks just as good up close as it does from across the yard.

Smooth transitions, beautifully defined edges, vibrant turf, and a layout designed specifically for the space. It’s the kind of backyard feature that instantly catches your eye… and makes you want to grab a putter. 🏌️‍♂️

Whether it’s for a quick practice session, a little friendly competition, or simply another way to enjoy your backyard, a custom putting green brings a whole new purpose to the space.

And seriously… that first shot. 🤌⛳

You paid for every square foot of your property. So why does part of it sit unused month after month?

Here is a simple test. How many times did you actually use your yard last month? Then ask what stopped you. Heat. Dirt. No usable space. Nowhere for the kids to play. No hardscape for a table and chairs.

Now the real question. Would you use it if those problems disappeared?

Most homeowners answer yes without hesitating, which tells you the yard is not the problem. The setup is.

Turf handles the dirt and the upkeep. Pavers create the space for seating and entertaining. Shade makes the whole thing usable when it is hot.

If you answered yes and your yard still sits empty, that is your answer about what to do next.

Got a tight side yard that never gets used? Just a strip of dirt, weeds, or gravel between the house and the wall that you walk past and try not to look at?

A lot of homeowners write those spaces off because they feel too small to be worth fixing. But you don't need a huge backyard to build something functional.

In this narrow yard, we paired lush artificial turf with clean stepping pavers to turn an awkward, forgotten strip into a space that actually works. The pavers create a clear path to the gate, the turf stays green and soft year-round, and there is no mowing, no mud, and no watering schedule to keep up with.

The result feels intentional instead of leftover. Easy to walk through, easy to keep clean, and something you are proud to see every time you open the back door.

Small yards deserve smart design just as much as big ones. Save this if your side yard needs an upgrade.
