Shock Treatment was supposed to be the sequel to The Rocky Horror Picture Show but in reality it's the further adventures of Brad and Janet. The plot is a little all over the place but as the years have passed, how prescient my dad was, is quite incredible. In it he foreshadowed Reality TV, Influencer Culture (see the song, Me, Me, Me), the rise of Therapy as entertainment and society getting turned into 24 consumers. My dad downplays his intelligence and I often get frustrated by it because he is able to see things in ways that other people can't. Does that count as intelligence, I'm not sure, but being able to pull back the curtain on where Western Society was heading was certainly very insightful. I think the songs are very strong and Jim Sharman did a great job directing it. I had a memorable day shooting the Farley Flavors commercial in the film and chatting with Rik Mayall when I was 9 years old was a highlight of my life as I was such a 'Young Ones' fan. As the world keeps changing I think we could all do with a bit of Oooh, Shock Treatment. I heard the very sad news this morning that Tim passed away. We were very fortunate that he bumped into my Dad one day in Earls Court in 1973. It was in that chance meeting that my Dad mentioned to Tim that he had written a musical that was going to go on at the Royal Court Theater Upstairs. He told Tim that he should audition and that Jim Sharman wanted everyone to bring along a Rock N' Roll song. Tim came in the next day and sang 'Tutti Frutti' by Little Richard. He blew everyone's socks off and they all knew that he was Frank N' Furter. There's an argument to be made that if Tim hadn't taken the role, then 'Rocky' might not have had the success that it has and I think that's a distinct possibility. His charisma, confidence and wit was ever present in his daily life and he brought that and so much more to the most iconic debut in the history of cinema. This photo was taken of my Dad and Tim at the after party for the Evening Standard Awards where 'Rocky Horror' won for Best New Musical. After it flopped on Broadway, my Dad and Tim stood on the sidewalk outside their hotel and my Dad said, "Well, I guess that's it" and Tim said, "But it's been a great ride for three years". My Dad agreed and they said goodbye. They both just needed to add '50' to that number. On a personal note, it was so lovely when I got to interview Tim for our documentary, 'Strange Journey'. He was warm, funny and just his lovely self. At the 50th anniversary of RHPS at the Roxy, in a quiet moment, he told me I had lovely skin and in response I struck a coquette'ish pose that made him laugh and smile. The last thing he said to me was "tell your Dad I love him". God bless you Tim, you made the world a brighter place. ❤️ taken in Los Angeles, California by @rockyhorrordocumentary

Special space/time collision announcement. ROCKY HORROR FAMILY, Los Angeles….if you know, you know. This man, this film, these songs, this community…has changed our lives as people and as performing artists. Losing Tim Curry has left us with an strange ache that must be filled by song and application of mascara, fishnets, and hope.

This Saturday in LA, the @dresdendolls are honored to announce @linus.obrien, son of Rocky Horror creator Richard O’Brien and award-winning documentary creator of “Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror” (@rockyhorrordocumentary) as our special and honored guest alongside drag legends @junobirch and @noxxiadatura at our LA show.

The show is Saturday, Oct 3, at the gorgeous @theunitedtheater on Broadway. Doors at 7pm. Queens take stage at 8pm. Come dressed for the occasion. And get ready to sing with us.

👀One more surprise guest coming….yet to be announced. You know you can’t miss this one, people. Let’s make some history.

My dad was fired from 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in 1972. He was unemployed and I had just been born. He contemplated moving back to New Zealand and getting a proper job. One day he gets a call from John Ashe, asking him if he'd like to perform a few songs and tell a few jokes at the EMI Films Christmas Party. He made a deal with himself, if it went well, he would stay on and become a working actor. With that in mind, he decided to write a song about the films he used to watch when he was a teenager in New Zealand, the late night Double Feature, Picture Shows.
