For nearly 8 years I've had the privilege of serving as the CMO of Soles4Souls. This past week was another unforgettable chapter in that journey, working alongside some amazing colleagues, board members and partners. Together we are focused on ending wasted potential – both untapped human potential and the economic potential that comes from extending the life of shoes and clothing. Three days in Honduras that I’ll never forget.

My travels often take me to beautiful places—but the most meaningful journeys are the ones where I get to serve. This week, that meant distributing shoes to children in schools and in the heart of the #garifuna community—moments that grounded me in the purest form of joy.

Sitting at the feet of a child to help them into a new pair of shoes, watching their face light up… there is no greater privilege.

With 85 incredible teammates at @soles4souls @soles4soulscanada @worldcompassfdn @lobocarrasco1—and thanks to the generosity of partners like @dsw, @kanefootwear , and @joybeesfootwear —we’re not just giving shoes and clothes. We’re helping people around the world launch small businesses, relieve the burden of basic needs, and walk forward with dignity.

I’m constantly inspired by our global board of directors, who bring bold ideas and deep compassion. It’s an honor to be in the room with such great minds—but even more humbling to be welcomed into homes, communities, and classrooms that remind us why we do this work.

Grateful for the gift of purpose, the privilege of perspective, and the ability to show up—again and again—with open hands and heart.

Still processing this deeply meaningful trip to China that Lily and I just returned from. It was the first time Lily had been back to China since that beautiful day she came into our lives 21 years ago. We had two reasons for going: for Lily to really connect with her roots; and to begin a search for her birth parents...
...We visited the now-closed orphanage where Lily spent the first 9 months of her life. It felt like sacred ground. So emotional...
...A local influencer broadcasted Lily's story, so we were recognized everywhere we went...
...We canvassed many villages with flyers and had many conversations with locals. Everyone was so welcoming and willing to help. Many said they had a friend or family member who had given up a baby girl when China had the one-child rule. We also got Lily entered into a DNA database, so hopefully something will match...
...We experienced the beautiful landscapes and culture of Yujiang, Lily's birthplace...
...It was beautiful, enlightening and moving. I feel so grateful to have had this experience with my baby girl. ❤️ by @rodarnold

This month I’m walking to raise funds for kids experiencing homelessness. Every $20 raised through @soles4souls provides a new pair of shoes to a child who needs them. For a kid, a new pair of athletic shoes isn’t just about comfort—it’s about confidence, opportunity, and the chance to show up fully at school and in life.

Somehow my baby girl turns 21 years old today. I could not be prouder of this beautiful, creative, strong, intelligent young woman. She is one of kind and will always be daddy's little girl. Happy birthday Lily! by @rodarnold
