Fall break adventure is taking shape! 🇺🇸🍂

We’re taking the kids to the DC area for four days and staying in a quaint little cabin outside of Fredericksburg. It’s tucked away in a wooded, secluded area about an hour south of the Capitol, which honestly sounds like the perfect place to relax and unplug a little.

Since we’re only going for 5 days(2 days travel and 3 days visiting), we don’t want to cram every minute of the trip full of activities and come home needing a vacation from our trip. 😂 We want to explore, see some history, eat some good food, spend time together, but also have plenty of time to just relax and enjoy where we’re staying.

We’re planning one full day in DC, focusing on the National Mall and Capitol area. We’ll hit the major sightseeing spots and visit the National Museum of American History. We’re also planning to visit the Mount Vernon area and the National Colonial Farm on the other side of the river one day.

That still leaves us some time to explore the Fredericksburg area and hopefully find a few hidden gems along the way.

For those of you who have been to Fredericksburg, Mount Vernon, DC, or the surrounding area, what are the places you think we should check out?

Restaurants, scenic spots, historical sites, cool things to do with teenagers, little hidden gems, or anything else you think would make the trip memorable.

We don’t want a packed itinerary — just looking for a few must-see/must-do recommendations to round out the trip.

I saw this and it really made me think about the things I want both of my kids to carry with them: not just while they’re young, but as they grow into adulthood.

To my kids, and to any teenager who happens to see this:

You don’t have to have everything figured out right now. You don’t have to be perfect. And you definitely don’t have to compare your life to everyone else’s highlight reel.

Work on yourself a little bit every day. Be grateful for what you have. Surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you. Get outside. Put the phone down sometimes and actually live. Celebrate the little wins. Be willing to be uncomfortable, make mistakes, hear criticism, learn from it, and keep moving forward.

Don’t spend all your time worrying about what you did wrong. Pay attention to what you’re doing right, too.

And probably most importantly, don’t be afraid to fail. Failure isn’t the opposite of success, it’s part of learning how to get there.

Life moves a lot faster than you think. Enjoy where you are while you’re working toward where you want to be.

To my son:

I hope you always remember these things, especially on the days when your mind gets the best of you.

You are enough.
It’s okay to have bad days.
Don’t believe everything you think.
You are loved more than you probably realize.
Be kind to yourself.
And remember, not all criticism is an attack—sometimes it’s an opportunity to grow.

Life is going to throw some hard things at you. Just remember that one bad day, one mistake, or one setback doesn’t define who you are. Keep moving forward, keep learning, and give yourself the same grace you’d give someone you love.

Erin Howard caught our backyard menace during his lunch break. 😂🐿️

Normally this little asshole is up in the tree barking at the dog just to piss him off, then running from branch to branch while the dog loses his damn mind below.

Apparently when the dog isn’t outside, he clocks out and lounges on the fence like he’s exhausted from a hard day’s work.

Three weeks into the season and both the Twin Lakes Varsity and JV football teams are still UNDEFEATED! 🔴⚪️💪

Kamryn is absolutely loving high school cheer and really thriving. It’s been pretty awesome watching her find something she enjoys this much and seeing her confidence continue to grow.

And I have to admit, I’m thoroughly enjoying being “forced” to go watch football games every week. 😂 Getting to watch some football while seeing my girl out there doing her thing and shining makes it even better.

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Big Pun. 💙

Not a day goes by that you’re not missed. There isn’t a birthday of yours that comes around without me wishing we could celebrate it together one more time.

I’d give anything to have you here to see the incredible people your niece and nephew have become. I know you’d be so proud of them, and I know they would’ve loved having their uncle by their side as they’ve grown up.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to wish Erin and I a happy anniversary! We truly appreciate all the kind messages, comments, and well wishes.

We spent a couple of days doing exactly what we wanted—relaxing and soaking up the sun. Sunday was spent lounging at home together before heading over to visit Bobby Brown and Rochelle N Brown at Brown’s Suga Shack. Then on Monday, we made our way to New Buffalo and spent the day enjoying the beach with the kids and dinner at Brewster's Italian Café.

It was a simple, relaxing anniversary, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate. Thank you again to everyone who helped make it even more special with your thoughtful anniversary wishes!

Paddy “The Baddy” on the other hand… wow.

A lot of people actually thought Benoît Saint Denis was going to somewhat dominate that fight. Instead, Paddy completely flipped the script.

He defended Saint Denis’ first takedown attempt, took control, and wasted no time getting the finish. It was an impressive statement against a guy many expected to be one of his toughest tests yet. by @rodneyhoward25
