y’all already know i be cutting a rug, but i had to made it official 🙂‍↕️ as i’ve stepped into my craft a bit more in the past few years, i’ve realized that movement is my way of communicating with the world, and i needed a place where all of my work and ideas can live. this page @rodneyisdancing is a vessel for a lot of things. i want to share my inspirations, manifest my creative aspirations and most importantly - hold myself accountable to share more with the people i love! sooo if you wanna see more, follow along and maybe you’ll see something you like…very soon… by @rodneyisamazing

Rodney! is a multi-faceted mover and choreographer who is just trying to figure it out — just like the rest of us. They are inspired by the world, the other-worldly, their friends, and really anything outside of the norm. You might’ve seen them in Outlaw of the Arts, Twilight After Dark or the last STAR AF! And yes, the exclamation point is necessary.

Rodney Bethea (they/them) is a multi-faceted movement artist and choreographer who is just trying to figure it out — just like the rest of us. Based in Chicago, they have experience across many different styles of expression, but love anything that marries hip-hop and performance art. They have appeared in a few cabaret and pop-up shows like STAR AF, but you can usually find them cutting a rug in the middle of a random drop-in class or in the park. Rodney is inspired by the world, the other-worldly, their friends, and really anything outside of the norm. Oh, and they just so happen to be a Charlie Swan enthusiast.

wow wow wow i’m feeling so blessed and loved!! 🥹 thank you to everyone who came out to STAR AF, watched my piece, Trimesters 📚 and voted for us to showcase it AGAIN at @queerdancefreakout in may!! this was a huge labor of love and i’m so happy i got to share a little bit of my world with a room full of such talented and loving people 💓

Trimesters is the first piece i’ve conceptualized and choreographed as a solo artist - it’s a love letter to every loud, happy, stylish, angry, proud, beautifully complex Black and queer kid - just stumbling through life without a guidebook and learning on the fly🪽 (also a huge nod to @doechii the biggest inspiration for my art)

HUGEEEE thank you and standing ovation to my fairy godthem @rene.mvmt for strapping on some ballet slippers and being my magical, fierce force of nature 🧚🏻 we all have someone looking out for us after all 🫂

also GINORMOUS thank you to @harle.m for mixing the track of my dreams and really helping me lay the foundation for this piece! a literal angel walking this earth 🩷

my love for you simply cannot be summed up in a short insta caption (and i panic every year about what to write because describing love like this is so hard) but all i can say is thank you. thank you for making me feel giddy yet calm whenever i see your face. thank you for being my best friend. thank you for reminding me of what i was going to say when i forget mid-sentence. thank you for letting me fall asleep on your chest when i’ve had a long day. thank you for staying up to watch “just one more” episode of survivor with me. thank you for dealing with my daily rants about what happened on teen wolf. thank you for letting me hold you when you cry. thank you for being silly with me and letting me play fight with you when i get hyper. thank you for teaching me what it means to show up for your loved ones. thank you for giving me grace. thank you for giving yourself grace. thank you for feeling like home. oh, and thank you for being so goddamn gorgeous 🌙 ✨ by @rodneyisamazing
