“Mythological Data Center” Acrylic Airbrush and Oil on Canvas 18” x 24”. I’m excited to share this piece will be part of “A Look To The Future, America at 350” group show at Brea Gallery @breagallery in collaboration with Thinkspace Projects at the Brea Civic Center! This show invited artists show they envision America in the year 2126. How people live, govern, create, our culture, our society. In my piece I envisioned an incomprehensible yet plausible future where every experience is reduced to a paid monthly subscription, which is navigated via a Tron- like obstacle course. The executives of this world rule over our daily lives like Mythical Social Media/ Celebrity/ Big tech Deities via their high powered Data Centers. Oh wait….that’s what America is like now. Thank you to @thinkspace_art for letting me be a part of this show! Selected interior illustrations for “Lost City Adventures” Children’s Book Series! Published by Bakken Books. This project was pretty interesting because I inadvertently learned a lot about Mayan /Aztec and other Pre-Columbian Meso American civilizations that I didn’t know about. Even though I was born in Mexico, and lived there periodically in childhood, I was embarrassed by how little I actually knew about its ancient history. Mayan and Aztec history was pretty mind blowing to me and honestly got me Mexico-pilled in a way I hadn’t been before. Really hoping to integrate some of this knowledge into my own paintings. #childrensillustration #illustration #digitalpainting #drawing #october #painting #artistsoninstagram #contemporaryart #mayan #aztec taken in Los Angeles, California by @rogerbetka

Haven’t posted much about paintings because I’m still doing client work. Last week I started a new project doing children’s book illustration for a new sci-if book series titled “Lost City Adventures” by Bakken Books. The story centers around a group of kids exploring various Aztec and Mayan ruins in search of the “Lost City”. Im currently sketching everything out. In total I’m doing 60 interior illustrations! #illustration #mayanruins #aztec #contemporaryart #drawing #artistsoninstagram taken in Los Angeles, California by @rogerbetka

I really hate humid tropical weather, which is one reason why I refused to leave California. But I admit when Tropic systems happen in L.A, they produce some really awesome lighting effects. #urbanphotography #losangeles #rainbow #urbanlandscape #contemporaryart taken in Griffith Park by @rogerbetka

I aspire to be half as prolific as the found art in the wilds of Los Angeles. Shout out to “Fat Girl Nena” on a tree stump. #lowbrowart #foundart #painting #contemporary art by @rogerbetka
