08/06/03 I’ve worked with Ian Brown a few times, did a @officialgusgus remix with him out of the blue. We really hit it off. Next thing I know, I got a call asking if I fancied working on an album with him.
Of course I said yes! When we were chatting about the vibe I jokingly said let’s turn everything backwards.
He loved that so we did lots of it like that.
This photo is from the first session on the brilliant Solarised album.
We had A LOT of fun and the band are all wicked players and we are all pals. It was an honour to be involved 🔊❤️ by @rogerwlyons

Lionrock made their debut on @top_of_the_pops_archive
We played our pop/smash Rude Boy Rock
We were very excited!
We turned up and they had rented a band to make us more “interesting” and they said I’d have a cool synth as a prop which ended up being a radio 😂 Justin DJ’ed with old gramophones but most importantly we had loads of fun.
If the label have a bit more faith and pressed more than 6000 copies (ie no one could buy it, DOH!) there was a serious chance we would have gone top 5 as for the previous 2 months, every radio 1 DJ played it on their show every day! That was a bit crackers as what started out as our final song for Deconstruction and we were a bit sad about that, turned into us having maximum fun in the studio and you can here that in the music (I hope).

Best days off trip ever!
My very good friend @scoobyeed said to me and I quote, “if you ever come to Chile I’ll take you to see some big telescopes”. Wouldn’t you know it, 2 months after he said that I got an email telling me @kaiserchiefs were on at @lollapaloozacl so I messaged simon and the game was afoot. I cannot explain what a life changing experience it is to see the stars strewn across a black velvet sky close enough to touch. It took my breath away. It really did. My head struggled with the magnificence and I cried for about 20 secs before a wow creaked out of my mouth.
Incredible to visit Paranal which houses the VLT (very large telescope and @alma.observatory which had only been open a week and quite sketchy at over 5000m elevation and most of the dishes yet to be deployed.
Fuckin stunning 🤩 🔭✨
One special thing possibly lost on a few of our party was when one of the astronomers in the control room called me over to look at this very wobbly blob on the screen.
It was a live feed from the instrument showing a star and a black hole rotating around each other playing their game of cosmic Russian roulette taken in Observatorio Paranal by @rogerwlyons

This was very cool and very sweet
My wife, She (great taste in music and men;) turned me on the the beautiful music of
@nils_frahm

Fast forward to 13th June 2017 and I was at an amazing place in Berlin called the Funkhaus doing a show with @unrealaltj launching their relaxer album and I’m chatting to @leaporcelain and Nils came up in conversation and it turned out he had a studio there.
Next thing I know the show is done and this lovely mild mannered chap pops over to find me and introduces himself and it’s Nils!
Next thing I know we are in his studio chatting all things analogue. I told him She had introduced me to his music and we had a great evening.
Fast forward even more to 20th July 2019 and I’m doing @electriccastle festival in Transylvania with @bringmethehorizon and it turns out Nils was on the bill and as he’s setting up backstage he spots me and we get chatting again. I tried to FaceTime She so she could say hello but I couldn’t get her so instead he does a little bit of his music for me to film and send to her.
Made her day and that was a very very sweet thing for him to do.

Yes.
I have indeed looked after a lot of bands.
This is a clip of James heading @kendalcalling in 2016 I think. It was like the Somme! So so so much mud but the crowd was lifted high and we did indeed prevail taken in Kendal Calling Festival by @rogerwlyons

Think this was 2017.
Hot loud sweaty with no preparation and all improvised. Think we played almost 6 hours at this one.
