People ask how we build real partnerships at Innovate Bay, and the answer is surprisingly low-tech:

We show up. 🫱🏿‍🫲🏽

As much as I love the efficiency of virtual calls, nothing beats meeting people face-to-face.

A few reminders from a day on the move:

- The best conversations happen in the margins: Coffee runs and pre-meeting small talk are where the real ideas spark.

- Trust builds faster: A handshake and an in-person chat accomplish in 20 minutes what takes weeks over email.

- Energy is contagious: Being in the room with passionate builders gives me a fresh perspective every single time.

Tech keeps us efficient, but in-person connection keeps us aligned. by @rohanbbrown

Let me tell you about my brother, though!

My ace, @rohanbbrown, made the front page of the @siliconvalleybusinessjrnl, so I had to pull up and celebrate!

He went from being a startup founder to being hired to build a university affiliated business incubator from the ground up, then expanded it by adding a venture capital arm and stepping into the role of executive director.

I’m elated to witness all of his hard work paying off in such a major way!

My guy is crushing it out in the Bay, creating opportunities, investing in innovation, and helping startups grow!

Super proud of you, bro! 🙌🏾🔥

Taking a moment to reflect.

Last year, I spent six days in the hospital fighting pulmonary embolisms. It was a moment where the reality of facing death was very real. While the doctors at Irvine hospital saved my life by removing the clots, it’s something that still impacts me today.

But I refused to let it stop me. I was literally working from my hospital bed before surgery to ensure Pitch Mayhem stayed on track (shoutout to Chris Foltz for holding down the fort).

To think that the year following that crisis became one of the most action-packed and rewarding years of my life is mind-blowing. Your current situation is not your destination. I can’t be stopped, and I’m ready for whatever the future holds. 🔥

Huge thanks to the Innovate Bay community and for San Francisco Bay University enabling to write this next chapter. by @rohanbbrown
