Olamide Rowland, also known as ROJ the Goat (@roj.archives), is a Nigerian filmmaker, designer and animator. Working across motion design, 3D, art direction and film, his practice is shaped by an interest in visual storytelling and the possibilities that emerge when a process is allowed to remain open and responsive.

Rather than treating filmmaking as a fixed sequence, Rowland sees writing, shooting and editing as separate opportunities to discover the work again. Influenced by filmmakers such as Abbas Kiarostami, he is drawn to chance, interruption and the texture of everyday life, allowing unexpected elements to become part of the final image rather than something to work around.

Alongside his independent film practice, he is the founder of Batch Motion, a community for African motion designers, and is currently developing his debut narrative short film. by @roj.archives

I grew up watching a lot of R&B music videos, and I’m excited to have had the opportunity to direct something that pays homage to the ones that inspired me.
