بنت بلاد الشام 🕊️

You may be thinking what’s that black and white scarf everyone is wearing in solidarity for Palestine?
It’s called a ✨Keffiyeh✨
A traditional scarf native to numerous countries in the Middle East that is commonly used by farmers to protect from the sun, sand and any harsh weather. The Keffiyeh gained popularity during the Arab Revolt against British colonial rule in the 1930s. After the state of Israel was established in the 1940s and they started their cruel occupation and ethnic cleansing against the Indigenous people of Palestine, the Keffiyeh began to accompany Palestinians and became a symbol of resistance against oppression.

What do the patterns on the Keffiyeh mean?

✔️ The black leaves around its frame represent olive tree leaves, the tree being one of the most important symbols of Palestine, denoting resilience, strength and courage

✔️ The net pattern is representative of the importance of the Mediterranean to Palestinians and their livelihoods

✔️ The broad line represents the trade routes that passed through Palestine, which brought with them travel and cultural exchange
