Look who’s back! 🙋‍♂️

I haven’t been very active here this year, even though I had plenty of rolls finished. They were just waiting for months to be developed and scanned. You know how it is — life happens, and photography is just one tiny part of it. It can wait. A month or two... or half a year, as in my case.

Anyway, let’s start with a quick random selection to get things moving again.

From the archive (2021)

Going through the archive, I found a lot of photos that didn't catch my eye back when they were taken, but do now. This selection is from the summer of 2021, not typical warm-weather shots from the beach, just some quiet, everyday moments in the city.

My camera died recently, so I need to keep my feed active while I wait for a new one. Or at least try to, since my last sign of life here was back in April 😅 taken in Ljubljana, Slovenia by @rokdragan

I used to take just one photo of a scene and move on. But years of experience have taught me otherwise. After missing some great shots, I realized it’s better to have an imperfect photo than no photo at all.

While some scenes are meant for a single frame, others allow you to stay and explore a bit more.

Here is a selection of 4 photos out of the 7 I took.

Little late to the party but anyway, here is the selection of my most interesting photos of 2025. I wasn’t very active, especially in terms of exploring new places, but I got to know the familiar ones on a deeper level, which will help me with a future project I have in mind for some time now. I shot 12 rolls of film this year, a nice number for a hobby photographer, right?

Wish you all a creative 2026 🥂

Embrace the low light (1-5)

Here is a selection of my favourite photos taken in low light. When there is not enough light available, film can create such moody scenes. This is the reason I don’t use flash majority of the time, luckily I primarily shoot faster film stocks (Portra 400 and 800) which can handle situations like this pretty well.

Sure I fail too, sometimes I am 5 minutes late and the scene is already too dark, so I can’t create miracles with my “cheap” P&S camera. In this case it is a waste of a shot, but this is how we learn, right? I look forward to this time of the year, when colors are muted and scenes are mysteriously calm.

Krk, June 2025

You would think that someone who went on a summer holiday to the seaside would come back with a lot of beautiful touristic photos of a place, right? But not me, I try to search for something different and I don’t always find it. There is the question though, did I explore deep enough or the city itself is just not photogenic enough for my style of photography? Combination of both I guess.

I am still exploring apartment block areas, but it is funny how I always end up on the same spots of the same hoods. At least scenes are changing a little bit, so I find something interesting the majority of the time. Hope you like this selection, more coming soon.

I haven't been very active here lately. For me photography is happening in real life at a slower pace. I still take photos though, it just feels weird being kind of forced to post very often if you wanna stay in the “social media game”.

Here is a random selection from recent rolls I just received from the lab. Just to push the algorithm a little bit after a couple months break 🤪.

Here are a few photos from my personal project “Kilometer from home”. These are all recent, unpublished and were shot at the end of 2024. There will be more information about the project in the following posts. But for now, let's just say it is an ongoing project with a very narrow working area, as the title suggests. I look forward to creating this one.

Random selection of car details (1-5)

I am not a fan of car (or any) closeup shots, but it is a good exercise to see things differently, so I do it occasionally. When a whole scene is not interesting or there are too many disturbing elements around, I always take a few steps closer and take a nice photo of a certain detail. Let it be a texture, an interesting object inside a car or just a beautifully designed light.
