Even though I’ll always be a Cardinals fan at heart, this White Sox team was so inspiring to watch all year. From setting the record for most losses in a season two years ago to making the ALDS and taking it all the way to game 5 - that’s just incredible.

I fell in love with baseball when I was 8 years old, and watching stories like this play out in real time gives me so much motivation in my own life and with my writing. My new single ‘Have I Made You Proud?’ is out now everywhere!

For a while, I’ve wondered if I’ve really been living in a way my younger self would be proud of. Childlike innocence is a beautiful thing, but holding yourself to that same standard as an adult can be incredibly taxing on your mental health. It’s an impossible standard. This song talks about these young and innocent ideals, as well as the disillusionment and self-loathing they cause when you try to live up to them in adulthood. I started by trying to post this as a story but it just didn’t feel right. Duncan Sheik, you were, and still are, one of the my biggest inspirations. My dad made me a CD to fall asleep to when I was very little, and your songs were the ones that made me feel the most calm. I learned to sing from your haunting voice that felt like the most human voice there was. The way you gracefully accented specific lines while leaving others around it more neutral taught me that not every line can have the same importance in order to truly grab people’s attention. Your showcase of range within a single song with low, breathy verses and belting choruses gives me goosebumps. When I need a good cry, I listen to your cover of ‘The Ghost In You’ by the Psychedelic Furs. When I need to remind myself of how beautiful the world can still be, I listen to ‘In Between.’

Your music is special. It will stand the test of time. I’m sad I’ll never get to meet you and tell you how much your music and career inspire me. Rest in peace Duncan. by @rolandlabonte
