Have you ever had back pain that just won’t go away? You’ve tried massage, stretching, yoga, and other exercises and nothing has worked.

Sometimes back pain is caused by misaligned hips, knees, feet, or shoulders.

Rolfing can improve pain and discomfort by addressing how each part of your body plays a role in your daily movement.

Rolfing works with the body’s connective tissue—known as fascia—𝘵𝘰 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯, & 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵.

Do any of these apply to you?

Your stride is uneven and/or uncomfortable.
You’ve experienced shin splints, plantar fasciitis, or foot pain.
Your shoulders get tired during normal activities.
You make a lot of noise when walking across a wood floor - do you walk heavily or lightly, or drag your feet?

If these sound familiar, your body may be compensating for misalignment.

Rolfing can help restore balance—and bring you back to ease.

Here’s a lil visual of what it’s like freeing up adhesions—between—muscles.

Adhesions in the body can show up between muscles, “sticking” them together. Gently releasing these sticky spots can free up the WHOLE muscle without needing to massage the rest of it.

It’s kind of like if your coat catches on a corner it can stop your whole body. Un hitch the catch of your jacket and the whole body can move and relax again.

If you can find it, treating just that one spot (and it might not be where the pain is) can positively affect the whole muscle and area!

Release the source, the body softens, reorganizes, and says “ah, thank you”

Tech neck and tilted pelvis are becoming very common!

Our bodies weren’t meant to sit all day. We know this.

These common ‘scrunching’ postures can create painful strain throughout the body. Do you feel these symptoms?

Thankfully, there are many ways of reversing this process. We can re-find comfortable uprightness. Have you seen how babies stand tall?

Rolfing is a bodywork that specializes in finding the tethers that hold us in certain ‘scrunched’ shapes.

Did you know that the connective tissue (fascia) surrounding our muscles (not the muscles themselves) can be the root cause of postural imbalance?

Not to mention nerves, blood vessels, and organs. All of these have parts to play in the way we hold ourselves upright.

My speciality is navigating across muscular and non-muscular anatomies to find those elusive tethers that keep you in a certain posture.

Are you curious how I might approach your situation? Send me a description of your self-observations, and I’ll share my first take.

Buccal (intra-oral) work is a very effective way to relieve deep jaw tension.

I specialize in Rolfing, a type of bodywork that looks holistically and closely at how the entire body can contribute to pain in certain areas.

Have you ever had back pain that just won’t go away? You’ve tried massage, stretching, yoga, and other exercises and nothing has worked.

Rolfing bodywork can find and treat the root causes of pains relating to structural imbalances in the body.

Sometimes, an effective treatment will move “from the ground up”, as in the video :).

In my Rolfing practice, I work with the body’s connective tissue— known as fascia-to improve posture, pain, & ease of movement.

Do any of these apply to you?
Your stride is uneven and/or uncomfortable.
You’ve experienced shin splints, plantar fasciitis, or foot pain.
Your shoulders get tired during normal activities.
You make a lot of noise when walking across a wood floor.

If these sound familiar, your body may be compensating for misalignment or an irregular tension pattern.

Rolfing can help restore balance-and bring you back to ease.

Do you think your pain in one area relates to an ache in a different area?

Commonly, these distant areas 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 each other.

Working with far reaching connections is Rolfing’s specialty.

Bringing the whole body—together—back into balance, is the goal of Rolfing. In this process, chronic pains often resolve or lessen.

Do any of these apply to you?

1. Your stride is uneven or uncomfortable.
2. You experience regular shin splints, plantar fasciitis, or foot pain.
3. Your shoulders get tired during normal activities.
4. You make a lot of noise when walking across a wood floor.

If any of these sound familiar, you may be compensating for imbalances across multiple areas of your body.

Rolfing can help restore balance in your body, improve function, and lessen pain.

Why does your hip still hurt?

Frankly, hip pain isn’t always just about the hip. The source of hip pain can come from other areas in the leg too.

Sometimes hip pain stems from a restriction in the outer leg area (around the IT band).

Where’s the IT band?
If you stand with your arms at your sides, your IT band is right about where your hands touch the side of your leg.

To fix hip pain, people often try rolling this area out with a foam roller, but this doesn’t always work. This can be because your IT band is not actually “tight” but rather “stuck” to its neighbors.

It can be stuck to its neighbors in the front or to the back (the quadriceps and the hamstrings, respectively). Both muscle groups also press up from beneath the IT band too. For proper functioning, the IT band should be able to glide smoothly over both, like a slippery board on ice.

Rolfing is able to precisely assess where the hip’s limiting restriction is (sometimes this is not where the pain is).

Let’s help our muscles get along with each other :).

Be it for chronic pain, emotions stored in tissue, or for evolving movement ease, thank you everyone, for your dedications to your body & self.

Something about this new year has people especially ready to take off with this work! Im so pleased to play a role in people’s aspirations.

This month, I’ve begun again to gather with bodywork peers to discuss our work and its directions. There is so much to unpack with new findings about the connection of our body, emotions, and the space around us. Of course body workers have known these things from experience for a long time, and yet when new research abounds, the discussion is renewed!

Looking forward to sharing some of these pieces in a future post.

Still standing,
In peace,

Rolfing helps resolve chronic pain. To do this, Rolfing organizes the whole body like a stack of blocks (or like a game of Jenga played backwards!). Above, I included a photo from a client who came to me this year; she had chronic back pain, shoulder pain, and carpal tunnel. Over the course of a Rolfing Ten-Series (a signature Rolfing treatment process of the entire body’s fascial network), these symptoms went away! With her enthusiastic support, I’m sharing her Rolfing results here. by @rolferclay

Im so excited to share that my Rolfing bodywork office is now open! This has been a dream for years, and with schooling and licensing finally done, it’s really happening! Rolfing is a bodywork that organizes the body around a central axis; this allows posture to be comfortably upright. But really, Rolfing is about embodiment and deepening connection across our entire body and self; this allows movement and life to feel more graceful and light.
